Dear Reader,
When the book "Paranormal America" was conceived in the first part of 2013, I began the process of collecting hundreds of stories from all across the United States. The vast majority of them were found online by talking with folks who responded to my ads seeking people willing to share their tales. I spent countless hours sorting through each collection from each state to find the most interesting or unique story and finished the book in about eight months.
Soon, I realized there were many stories that could be expanded into their own collection; especially the numerous tales of "paranormal" encounters attributed to Aliens. I found it to be an intriguing idea, since being open minded to the paranormal, I'm also open to the notion of extraterrestrial contact.
Immediately work began on the second collection of short stories from across fifty states. Once again, I reached out for stories, only this time they were specifically requested in the realm of "alien encounters" and at the same time I began the process of looking through previous stories that fell into this category. The next collection of stories were prepared roughly a year later, and "Aliens Across America" was born.
A funny thing happened yet again. In reading through the next set of stories, another common theme appeared. Many of these "encounters" were thought to be angels, or visions from the afterlife. They had a quality of being taken someplace else, many times in ways that were seemingly impossible. Another collection was beginning to appear and soon, I was on the hunt for stories of the ultimate unknown: near death experiences from all fifty states!
As with the other two books, many hours of reading stories sent in from people from every walk of life across the country started. Once more, within another year the newest collection, "Afterlife in America", was published.
I've had hundreds and hundreds of people from all over the United States write in about their personal experiences. The responses were so exciting, overwhelming, and some extremely emotional. And while I certainly can't verify without a doubt all 150 stories are completely true, they are certainly interesting to ponder and I hope as you read this book you will keep an open mind and heart about what these people have encountered in their lives.
The short stories I read along the path to creating each book opened my mind in ways I would have never imagined when I started gathering "ghost stories" many years ago. My thirst for knowledge continues stronger than ever thanks in no small part to the strangers willing to share their most unique life experiences.
Finally, this book you are reading now was put together as the ultimate collection of the three books that shared an unspoken bond. The stories kept my curious mind occupied for many years along the way, and certainly gave me plenty to ponder for many years to come.
Enjoy the stories and never stop seeking more perspectives of your world,
Megan Moxon

There were no pre-warning signs of paranormal activity at my duplex. It all started the day I was moving in. I was alone, bringing in the first load of my personal belongings from my car.
I walked into the bedroom and the door slammed closed behind me. I went to open the door and it would not open. The door locking mechanism was jammed and I could not get the door to open. There was no way I could climb out the bedroom window; it was too far down to the ground to climb or jump out and my phone was in my purse in the living room.
I had to scream for help from the bedroom window until finally a neighbor not even from my duplex heard me and came to my rescue. Luckily the front door of my duplex was not locked so she was able to walk right in, but she could not open the bedroom door either. She had to get her husband to come over and take the door off the hinges in order for me to get out. We discussed what had happened and there were no windows open, the air conditioning was not on and there was no way to explain why the door slammed as I walked into the room. I had been moving in furniture the day before with friends and the door never closed like that. When my landlord came over the next day to re-hang the door, the door knob locking mechanism was working just fine. I did not have any other problems with the bedroom door. But, a few days after that...
I was sitting on the living room floor, talking on the phone and I saw a strange ball of light dart around the room very fast, then it disappeared. Right after that happened, a peanut M&M popped up out of the candy dish on the glass cocktail table. The M&M hit the glass table top and then fell to the floor. I was telling my friend on the phone what just happened and she said the light might have been an orb. She chuckled at me and said, "Maybe the spirit just wanted a piece of candy," but I had no idea what an orb was. So I started researching orbs and what I saw that day looked just like the balls of light in the pictures of orbs. I continued to see orbs, off and on for several days.
Then... one morning as I was getting dressed for work, I heard the sound of keys rattling. I walked into the living room, thinking that my landlord was unlocking my door and was going to just walk in. I was a bit startled thinking he would do something like that unannounced, but then I noticed my car keys were on the floor. My keys were inside my purse, and my purse was sitting on the couch. My purse did not move, there was nothing else that came out. Just my keys.
By now I am starting to get a little frustrated. When I got to work I called my landlord and asked him if any strange activity had ever been reported from this duplex, did someone die there, anything that might explain these strange things that were happening. He was not aware of anything and never had a tenant say that any unusual activity happened while they lived there.
So, I drive home from work that day and when I get to the side door that I always enter the house through, the porch light was on. I know I turned the porch light off before I left because it is a ritual of mine. I lived alone and I liked having the light on for security purposes at night. But I always turned the light off when I left each morning. I know I turned the light off, and it was on. I called my landlord to see if he had gone to the duplex while I was at work, he said no. My landlord was probably beginning to think that I was crazy and I was beginning to think that he was entering my apartment when I was not there. But even that could not explain the orbs and other moving objects.
As I walked into my kitchen, the same day as when the porch light was on, I noticed something unusual. Next to the kitchen sink on the countertop, I had a shell cherub on an acrylic stand. It was a unique piece like I had never seen before. A small solid white sea shell about the size of a plum with a baby cherub head made from some type of ceramic/porcelain affixed at the top of the flat side of the shell. I had bought it from a gift shop at the hospital when I had a miscarriage. It was sitting on a clear acrylic stand. The cherub shell was turned around completely, facing the wall. Okay, I live alone, I havent had any visitors up to this point and I do not have a cat... I am a meticulous housekeeper so how did this thing get turned around like this? By this time, I am really thinking that my landlord is coming into my duplex when I am not at home and doing things like this to mess with me. I called him immediately and he just laughed at me. He said, he was not coming into the duplex and that I just needed to calm down.
