    • Verbs are words that usually show action, such as talk, walk, sit, eat, go, and write.EX: He eats a banana.
      • Sometimes, verbs do not show action; instead, someverbs connect the subject with an adjective. These areoften called linking verbs. Some examples are: be, become,get, smell, sound, taste, feel, look, appear, seem.
      EX: The banana tastes sweet.EX: The girl is nine years old.
    • Verbs also give information about time.
      • Some verb tenses are: present, past, future.
      EX:Today it rains, yesterday it rained, and next weekit will rain.
      • Simple tenses tell about habits and single actions.
      • Continuous or progressive tenses focus on the action happening at the moment of speaking (continuous tenses always have a form of the verb be and -ing on the base form of the verb).
      EX: Be + verb base form + ing (It is raining.)
