A s a woman, I count it a privilege to write the foreword to this book about Christian women who are part of our spiritual history. This is a story about Gods work on earth through some of His disciples. Jesus always had a heart for women despite the adverse culture of His day. He broke all the norms of His society by inviting them to join His traveling team, listen to His teaching, and minister to the poorest of the poor, the sick and the outcasts, the abused and needy.

What joy to my heart to be reminded of people and stories I have known, and others I have now been introduced to. Looking through the window of my soon-to-be eighties, I want to be like them when I grow up!

Many of us are familiar with the better-known heroes of the faith. But reading along in this book and being introduced to new friends like Sarah Dunn Clarke, Amanda Smith, Nettie McCormick, and other legends, I have to admit I have been tempted to wish for another life! So many are the lost, so lost are the many: so lonely and yet so reachable by the arms of our love are the unlovable. Love, we are told, never fails. I learned this phrase does not mean love never fails to get a positive response. Rather that Gods love continues on whether the loved one ever responds or not!
