Introduction

Murder is something that has been going on since the beginning of time. Some people blame this on a problem with the brain, stating that the murderer must have been wired wrong. Others believe that something terrible must have happened to these people early on in life. However, the truth is that sometimes, people just snap, they go into a rage and they become something short of human

It is at this point that common sense does not matter any longer, and the murderer begins acting as if they are some kind of animal, thirsty for the blood of their victims.

However, while we know that this happens, we tell ourselves that it will be balanced out, that if someone commits a murder, they will face judgment, they will be punished for the crimes that they have committed.

What happens, however, when the murderer is not punished? When the case goes, cold and remains unsolved?

That is exactly the stories that we are going to be discussing throughout this book. 24 of the most notorious unsolved murder cases from all across the globe. Each chapter is dedicated to its own case, the facts and the events.

While these cases have gone cold, there is still hope that someday, somehow, someone will be punished for these horrific crimes...

Chapter 1-

The Murder of Amber Hagerman

It was January of 1996 in Arlington, Texas when nine year old Amber Rene Hagerman was headed out to ride her bike with her brother.

They were allowed to ride around the block that their grandparents lived on but like most kids, they wanted to test their boundaries and began riding their bikes in an empty grocery store parking lot.

As the two continued riding, Ambers brother Ricky began to worry that their mother would be upset with them for being so far away from where they were supposed to be and he went back home. Amber, on the other hand, was not ready to leave, wanting to take one last go at the ramps that were in the lot

When Ricky arrived back at his house, he told his family where Amber was but instead of being angry, they were worried and sent the boy back to get her.

When Ricky returned to the parking lot, he couldnt find Amber anywhere. Ricky and his grandfather, whose name was Jimmie Whitson, searched the area, driving around in his truck, but they were unable to find Amber.

When Mr. Whitson returned to the grocery store parking lot where his granddaughter had been riding her bike on the ramp, the police had already arrived and were investigating the area.

They had been called by a man that lived in the area who stated that he had heard someone screaming. He also stated that he had witnessed a man carrying a young girl and placing her into his pickup.

The only thing that the police were able to find in the parking lot was the bike of the little girl that had been left behind

Over the next few days, the family appeared on television begging that their daughter be returned home safely, however, her body was found near an apartment complex in the area, lying unclothed on a creek bed. Her throat was slit.

Because no one witnessed the crime, except of course the man who had called the police in the first place, and there was no evidence left in the grocery store parking lot, the police had nothing to go on which is why this case remains unsolved.

However, because of this little girl named Amber Hagerman, many other children have been saved due to the abduction alert system that was named in her honor, the Amber Alert

Chapter 2 -

The Betsy Aardsma Murder

In Pennsylvania, November 28 th of 1969, Betsy Aardsma was studying at Penn State University for a degree in English at the age of 22 when she was murdered.

The day began just like any other day, Betsy was in the Penn State library, doing research for a paper that she needed to complete.

The day ended with Betsy being stabbed in the heart at about 4:55 that evening. A witness stated that they had seen two men running from the library at about 4:56 that night. However, before the men escaped, they called out, asking the librarian to help Betsy.

At the time of the murder, Betsy was wearing a top that was red which caused the people that were trying to help her, to not understand the extent of her wounds.

Those that were trying to help her actually believed that she had a seizure and were trying to give her CPR in order to resuscitate her and it was not found that she had been stabbed until the wounds were discovered at the hospital during a physical examination.

Forty-five years later, the identity of the men that were seen fleeing from the library remains unknown. However, the Penn State police are still looking for the murderers...
