The Myth of Saint Thomas and the Mylapore Shiva Temple: summary, description and annotation

We offer to read an annotation, description, summary or preface (depends on what the author of the book "The Myth of Saint Thomas and the Mylapore Shiva Temple" wrote himself). If you haven't found the necessary information about the book — write in the comments, we will try to find it.

The authors experience of Christian institutions, West Asian Muslim society, and Israeli kibbutzim helped to turn him against the monolithic Abrahamic creeds which he saw as imperialistic, belligerent, and life-threatening. He came to India in search of spiritual direction and because Hindu civilization still gave an honorable place to the Mother Goddess. The fact that Hindu civilization had withstood centuries of Muslim and Christian aggression and survived where other civilizations had failed was to his mind a very impressive cultural achievement.;He is a great lover of Hindu culture and religion and is deeply saddened that Hindus today have become second class citizens in their own motherland because of a pusillanimous and weak-minded religious and political leadership. He says that as long as Christianity continues to wage a socially destructive war of aggression on Hinduism and take prisoners in the form of unsophisticated credulous converts, its curious theories and unique claims must be thoroughly investigated and challenged by Hindus of integrity and conviction.

This book was produced in EPUB format by the Internet Archive.

The book pages were scanned and converted to EPUB format automatically. This process relies on optical character recognition, and is somewhat susceptible to errors. The book may not offer the correct reading sequence, and there may be weird characters, non-words, and incorrect guesses at structure. Some page numbers and headers or footers may remain from the scanned page. The process which identifies images might have found stray marks on the page which are not actually images from the book. The hidden page numbering which may be available to your ereader corresponds to the numbered pages in the print edition, but is not an exact match; page numbers will increment at the same rate as the corresponding print edition, but we may have started numbering before the print book's visible page numbers. The Internet Archive is working to improve the scanning process and resulting books, but in the meantime, we hope that this book will be useful to you.

Bibliography
Authors Note

This book is a revised and updated version of The Myth of Saint Thomas and the Mylapore Shiva Temple that was published by Voice of India in 2010. It includes everything in the earlier edition plus a number of new and important references. The Tamil and religious scholar Veda Prakash, who in 1989 brought us the original data he had collected on the St. Thomas myth and destruction of the Kapaleeswara Shiva Temple in Mylapore, continues to share his research materials and Tamil translations. Sita Ram Goel, Koenraad Elst, K.P. Sunil and Ganesh Iyer, Leela Tampi, R.S. Narayanaswami, Rajiv Malhotra, C.A. Simon, Khushwant Singh, G. Ananthakrishnan, B.R. Haran, G.P. Srinivasan, V. Sundaram, S. Muthiah, A. Srivathsan, B.S. Harishankar, Sandhya Jain, Swami Tapasyananda of the Sri Ramakrishna Math in Mylapore, and a number of Indian and foreign media organisations who report news without a by-line, have all made invaluable contributions.

Two important events have taken place since the publication of this book in 2010. One, the eminent and learned archaeologist Dr. R. Nagaswamy has criticised the Pattanam archaeological dig1 and categorically stated that there is no evidence for St. Thomass visit to India, and two, a California production company, Dharlin Entertainment, is planning a major motion picture on St. Thomass alleged stay in Kerala and murder in Mylapore.2 They may succeed in cinematically perpetuating the blood libel of Thomass murder by Hindus where the Madras-Mylapore Archdiocese failed in 2008. Added to this is the vast work and expense the Archdiocese has lavished on rebuilding the fake St. Thomas tomb in San Thome Cathedral Basilica and on its garish development around the old Portuguese churches on Little Mount in Saidapet and St. Thomas Mount.
