About the Editors
ROBERT S. LA FORTE is chairman of the history department and professor of history at the University of North Texas. He is the author or editor of three books and more than forty-three articles and entries in scholarly journals, encyclopedias, and dictionaries. He graduated from the University of Kansas, where he was a student of Donald R. McCoy.
RONALD E. MARCELLO is coordinator of the Oral History Program and associate professor of history at the University of North Texas. The author or editor of guides, newsletters, reports, and journal articles, he has lectured widely on oral history and has conducted more than nine hundred interviews on various topics, including political, military, and civil rights history. He was executive secretary of the Oral History Association from 1976 to 1986 and its 1988-89 president. He graduated from Duke University, where he studied under Robert Durden.
