ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A former wilderness guide, college professor, camp director, park ranger, illustrator, furniture maker and home repairman, Ben Fortson was forced to finally give up on his heterogeneous career and just write about it. A consummate note taker and doodler, he has amalgamated years of seemingly random activity into a seemingly legitimate vocation: writingand drawingabout life.
Ben writes and illustrates Almost Off the Record, a history comic with a humorous slant on historical events, and has published several books containing collections of his comics. He continues to write and illustrate history books, childrens books and a random assemblage of witty stories. Currently residing in Black Mountain, North Carolina, with his wife and three children, Ben has explored his home state from top to bottom, finding it seething with fascinating characters, enchanting history, incredible scenery and great barbecue.
