Michael I. Handel is Professor of National Security Affairs at the US Army War College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is the author of several monographs and books including Israels Political-Military Doctrine (Harvard University Center for International Affairs), The Diplomacy of Surprise: Hitler, Nixon, Sadat (Harvard University Center for International Affairs, 1981), and Weak States in the International System (Frank Cass, 1981).
Martin van Creveld is Associate Professor of History at The Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and among his publications are Hitlers Strategy 194041: The Balkan Clue (Cambridge University Press, 1977); Supplying War: Logistics from Wallenstein to Patton (Cambridge University Press, 1977); Fighting Power: German and U.S. Military Performance, 19391945 (Greenwood Press, 1982) and Command in War (Harvard University Press, 1985).
Katherine L. Herbig is Adjunct Research Professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California. Her research has been on intelligence issues, particularly on strategic deception, and a recent monograph, American Strategic Deception in the Pacific 19421945 , is on the US deception campaign against the Japanese in the Second World War. She is also author of several books and articles.
David Kahn is Assistant Viewpoints Editor of Newsday (the Long Island daily) and the author of The Codebreakers, Hitlers Spies and Kahn on Codes (all published by Macmillan), and of many magazine, journal and newspaper articles on cryptology and military intelligence.
Werner Hahlweg is Professor of Military History and Military Sciences at the University of Munster and includes among his publications Die Heeresreform der Oranier: Das Kriegsbuch des Grafen Johann von Nassau-Siegen (Wiesbaden, 1973), Carl von Clausewitz, Vom Kriege (Bonn, 1980). In preparation is a second volume of Carl von Clausewitz, Schriften-Aufsatze-Studien-Briefe .
Colonel Harold W. Nelson, US Army is Director of Military Strategy at US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and has taught history and strategy at the US Military Academy and the US Army Command and General Staff College, besides serving in various troop assignments in the United States, Vietnam, Korea, and Germany and working in the Office of the Defense Advisor at the US Mission to NATO. He is the author of a forthcoming book, Leon Trotsky and the Art of Insurrection, 19051917 .
Jay Luvaas is currently Professor of Military History at the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, and lists among his publications The Military Legacy of the Civil War: The European Inheritance (Chicago, 1959) and The Education of an Army: British Military Thought 19151940 (Chicago and London, 1964). He has completed a basic translation of Napoleons selected thoughts on war and is currently working on a title The Lure of Old Battlefields a study of the evolution of the generalship of Frederick the Great, and a series of interpretative essays on the evolution of the art of war during the American Civil War.
Wallace P. Franz is presently theater combined arms analyst for the Boeing Aerospace Co. in Seattle, Washington. He is author of several articles in Military Review and is currently working on a book about large unit maneuvers. While at the US Army War College, he conducted courses on Clausewitz, large unit operation and war gaming.
Jehuda L. Wallach is Professor for Military History at the Aranne School of History, Tel-Aviv University. Among his published works are The Dogma and the Battle of Annihilation: Theories of Clausewitz and Schlieffen and their Impact on the German Conduct of Two World Wars (German and American editions) and Kriegstheorien. Ihre Entwicklung im 19 and 20 (German and Hebrew editions).
Klaus-Jrgen Mller is Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of the Bundeswehr and the University of Hamburg, and lists among his publications Das Heer und Hitler. Armee und National-sozialismus 19331940 (1969), Armee, Politik und Gesellschaft in Deutschland (1979), and General Ludwig Beck Generalstabschef des deutschen Heeres 193338 (1980).
Williamson Murray is currently Visiting Professor of Strategy at the Naval War College, Rhode Island and Associate Professor of History at Ohio State University. He is author of The Change in the European Balance of Power, 19381939: The Path to Ruin (Princeton University Press, 1984) and Luftwaffe (Nautical and Aviation Press/Allen & Unwin, 1985).
Douglas Porch is presently Mark Clark Professor of History at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina and has published several books including Army and Revolution, France 18151848 (Routledge &c Kegan Paul, 1974) and The March to the Marne: The French Army 18711914 (Cambridge University Press, 1981).
