The pigments are strong and beginners are often afraid of their intensity and add far too much water, making the colours too dilute. Too little pigment makes tinted water, not vibrant colour. Across the Bay 22.5 x 30 cm (9 x 12 in) Arches rough paper Ultramarine Blue, Aureolin and a dash of Quinachrodine Magenta were tested out on the bottom of the paper for strength of colour.
