About the Author
Scott Joshua Dere has been using a camera since he was five years old, using film to record his musings. At just thirteen years old, Scott landed his first photography job as a photography assistant for a local studio. For the next seventeen years, Scott worked with several professional studios, learning different techniques of lighting and visualizing subjects along the way. During this time, Scott attended college at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan and received a BFA in Fine Art Photography in 2001.
Since that time, Dere has opened a Long Island, NY, studio called Art Photographers. The studio is responsible for documenting hundreds of weddings, parties, and functions, along with creating fine art portraiture in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut areas. In 2015, Scott was awarded a Master of Photography Medal from the Professional Photographers of America (PPA). In 2018, a Master Craftsman award followed.
Over the last two decades, Dere has had the opportunity to photograph many celebrities, including Phil Collins and Ellen Barkin. He has also worked alongside some of the industrys best photographers including Canon Explorer of Light photographers Clay Blackmore and Charles Glatzer. He has also worked with some of Nikons greatest talents, including Thomas Mangelsen and Moose Peterson. Locally, Scott has worked for Canon in Lake Success, NY, and still uses their best equipment to date.
Over the last ten years, Scott has produced many published works for his project The Elements of Nature. This pursuit requires traveling in between weekend events and working all seasonbut it has yielded some of the most amazing images of nature today.
