She has written this book for college students with the aim of making the concepts of Python programming easier for them. She holds a degree in BE (Electronics) from D.Y. Patil College of Engineering, Pune University.

She has worked as a developer, tester, and trainer with some reputed MNCs and has a lot of experience in software development and testing. She has worked on projects related to Python, Java, EJB, C, C++, PHP, JSP, JavaScript, HTML, .NET, R, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, and Software Testing.

Dr. Syed Hassan Amin completed his PhD in Computer Science from Imperial College in London, United Kingdom. He has over 20 years of experience in academia and industry, and for the last 10 years, he has been associated with the software industry in various technical management roles. Dr.

Hassan Amin has been working as the Director of Technology at i2c inc. At i2c, he has been responsible for overseeing the design and development of business intelligence solution, while also developing organizational capacity for building data science solutions. He has also been involved in guiding the team to build solutions for payment fraud, text analytics, and other applications of data science in the payment processing industry. He is actively involved in building data science and BI team through hiring and training of resources at i2c. He is a passionate data scientist and is actively involved in data science discussions and competitions on Kaggle.

I would like to thank my husband and my two lovely children, Aananya and Ranbeer for all the help, support, and encouragement, without which I would not have been able to finish this book.

When the lockdown was announced in early 2020, I thought my work would get affected, but my family ensured that I continue to work as per my schedule and finish the book on time. Thank you to BPB for allowing me to write this book and thank you for your support.

Will familiarize you to the basic structure of the language, coding environment, and the rules and recommendations that one must follow while programming. In this chapter, you will start working with numeric data type in Python, operators, and some very important in-built functions available for Python Coding. String is one of the most important data-type in Python, and you will learn each and everything about String operation in complete details. In this chapter, you will be introduced to Lists and how you can work with them.

You will also be introduced to Python Arrays. In this chapter, you willlearn about tuples and dictionaries, how they are different from the other data types, and when to use them. In this chapter, you will learn to work with sets and frozen sets. In this chapter, you will learn how to work with if, ifelse, and nested if - else statements. You will also learn how to use 'for' loops, 'while' loops, and generators.
