EMRE AND KEVINA high-powered lifestyle doesnt always leave an abundance of time for nourishment. Yet an active, healthy and thriving body critically demands proper nutrition to support it. And to fit it all into your busy schedule, you need powerful options for quick meals, in-between snacks and, yes, even desserts. The concept for this book stems from my own journey into a fitness-oriented diet. A wholesome, plant-based diet is already effortlessly rich in health-promoting nutrients, so I felt that I was on the right track. But as I increased the volume of my exercises and shifted my focus more toward strength and muscle tone as well as health and stamina, an additional consideration on protein intake was warranted to help my body respond better to workouts and recover faster. Thus, the recipes in this book pay a large emphasis on the protein content. But rather than disregarding or restricting other nutrients, they aim to strike a healthy balance for each meal. All the recipes here are kept gluten-free and soy-free without meaning to vilify them. A protein-dense, plant-based diet tends to rely disproportionally on these two sources mainly because the existing food products make heavy use of them. So, the aim here is to introduce the whole other spectrum of powerful, protein-rich foods, both as a resource for those who are intolerant to gluten and soy, and for those who are seeking alternatives to them in order to diversify. This book arms you with simple, uplifting recipes that will energize you and satisfy your cravings while making zero sacrifices on deliciousness. Inspiration was drawn from various world cuisines, with a mind to simplify them, to make them accessible and to enrich their nutritional balance. The book organizes the recipes into five groups. The Comfort Foods and the Internationally Inspired chapters make up the bulk of the recipes, with a large number of energizing and filling meals that will fit various moods from light and refreshing, to warming and spicy. You will find great options for quick-fix meals for yourself, for entertaining and for the family to get together around. The Sweet Treats chapter may seem contradictory to the premise of the book, but it is perfectly complementary, as ignoring them doesnt make the cravings go away. We might as well make the best of it and create desserts as healthy, nutritious and delicious as possible. The Snacks & Basics chapter will have you make your own powerful protein bars as well as other on-the-go snacks. It will also offer some versatile basics, such as easy, protein-packed, gluten-free breads. Finally the Probiotics chapter dabbles in home fermenting with a few practical and mouthwatering options, including brewing your own kombucha and making kimchi. It should be noted that two particular kitchen gadgetsnamely, the food processor and (preferably high-speed) blendermake frequent appearances in these recipes. They are incredible time savers, and if you are interested in home cooking, I highly recommend that you invest in them.I hope that you will find this book a good resource and complementary to my first cookbook, Easy Vegan Breakfasts & Lunches. The recipes here are created and tested as meticulously as possible, but I fully expect there might be mistakes or gaps in the instructions, despite the efforts to minimize them. Please feel free to reach out and tell me about the good and the bad, I would love to hear from you, and to the best of my abilities, help you. I am grateful that this book is in your hands and has earned a place in your attention. Thank you, and I love you. Next page
