I find it fascinating how specific moments become headlines for our life stories. After working my way through the ranks at Deloitte to become their CMO, I was courted by Starwood. I accepted their offer at age thirty-two, making me the youngest CMO ever hired by a Fortune 500 brand. Good headline, right? While that moment represents an impressive inflection point in my career, it didnt make me successful. The truth is that consistent hard work over time eventually earns headlines.
