This book is dedicated to you, with the wish and prayer that you find something of lasting value in its pages.
And dedicated to three writers who have given us blueprints for the future:
To Buckminster Fuller, for envisioning the possibility of a world with a steadily rising standard of living for all, in a way that is entirely harmonious with all life on our Spaceship Earth.
To Barbara Marx Hubbard, for writing Conscious Evolution, and showing us the next step becoming a universal humanity, co-evolutionary with nature, and co-creative with spirit.
To Riane Eisler, for writing The Chalice and the Blade, and showing us the possibility of a world where partnership, rather than domination, rules once more.

Mind is the master power that molds and makes,

And we are Mind, and evermore we take

The tool of thought, and shaping what we will,

Bring forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills.

We think in secret, and it comes to pass

Our world is but our looking glass.

To live your life in your own way

To reach the goals youve set for yourself

To be the person you want to be

that is success.

A year had passed since the day an old man named Bernie walked into my struggling little business and shook my hand. I didnt know it then, but when I met Bernie I met my mentor.

A lot had happened over the year I even had a books worth of notes from conversations with Bernie on creating a visionary business. Along the way, I had come to understand how to create a successful business at least theoretically and I was beginning to see some convincing results from trying to practice what Bernie preached.

Whenever things would feel overwhelming, I would leaf through the pile of notes, and usually find something useful, even inspiring. At first I titled the notes Meetings with a Remarkable Man. Then it became Visionary Business.

I was flipping through the notes late one afternoon in the office when the phone rang.

Still at it, eh?

I recognized the soft old voice right away.

Bernie good to hear from you.

What are you up to?

Well, I was just looking through some of my notes here. Ive been thinking about organizing them in some way, and making you a copy.

Interesting thats just what I called about.

My notes?

Yeah and my notes, too. Ive got a pile of them Id like to talk to you about. This sounded interesting.

Want to come over, say, Saturday afternoon? he said. Ive got an idea for you.

I had been to Bernies house just a few times. It was on several acres of land bordering a national park, with miles of wilderness.

He met me at the door and offered me a cup of strong coffee. We took our steaming cups and went out about twenty or thirty yards behind his home, overlooking grassy meadows framed by pine-covered hills and winter fog.
