Foreword to the Post-Qualifying Social Work Practice series
Social work with children and families has never received so much public attention as in recent years. The complexity of social work in this field, coupled with budget pressures and public expectation, has led us to a place where social workers increasingly find this work very stressful and, at times, overwhelming.
It is, therefore, really encouraging to read and review this text, which has been written by a team of highly experienced childcare social workers. The book is full of case studies, guidance and reflections on good practice to help develop and foster the very best social work practice in this field.
While this book alone will not solve all of the stress and pressure of social work with children and families, Im sure you will agree that it offers all social work practitioners a valuable insight and reflection on the best ways to practise social work.
I trust you, the reader, will find it of real value in your professional practice.
