Every season, a new crop of rich and radiant fashion-inspired colors appear from yarn companies to entice us. Color can bring both joy and fear to some knitters hearts. The possibility of choosing or combining the wrong color from the sometimes overwhelming wall of yarn can be stifling.
How liberating would it be to dive into sumptuous designs entirely in a winterwhite palette? Think of Pure Knits as a palate cleanser of sorts, the sherbet between courses, which lets the knitters imagination run wild. Once we remove color, we can focus on the hand of the fiber, the texture of the fabric, and the structure of the fit: everything that makes a classic piece heirloom worthy. White is luxurious in its purity and simplicity, symbolic of special occasions, elegance, and optimism. White brings to mind the extraordinary as well as the ordinary. Not only does it say crisp and clean, but it is also warm and comforting. In one incarnation, it can connote innocence, while in another it can knock em dead.
No other color can evoke so many different emotions for so many people. Its funny to think that while I work on a pure white book, Im also planning my wedding. My days are spent thinking about whether I should go with diamond white or ivory, and what colors will best stand out against that particular white. No, this isnt a wedding knits book, but some of the same ideas could apply to everyday knitting. You can tie together your look with the other colors you wear; wearing white will make the other colors that much more dramatic. The patterns in this book bring forth classic lines with a modern edge.
The book is broken into chapters based on the techniques used. The chapter Pure White shows you how to add twists to your knitting to create projects that are anything but simple. Cool Textures brings knits and purls to the forefront. Whether highlighting a neckline or used in an allover pattern, Wintry Lace has you covered. From a baby set to a mans Aran, Arctic Cables satisfies your addiction to twists and turnswith or without a cable needle. Wear white with sophistication.
There are plenty of shades to choose from.
VRONIQUE HAEGELI A plush cardigan blends vintage flair with a modern fit in a luxurious alpaca yarn. This cardigan is knit in one piece without any seams. The lower piece is knit in one piece from the bottom edge up, with the edge stitches placed on a holder until they are grafted to the upper body and sleeves. The sleeves are worked in the round, and the slant of the V-neck is achieved with short rows. SKILL LEVEL Experienced SIZES XS (S, M, L, XL)
