Wire Art
SIMPLE & MODERN
Creating objects and figures out of wire is an exciting new trend. This light material can be used to create magical works of art quickly and easily. Wire is easy to handle and can be formed into many shapes with just a few tools.
The stylish examples in this book can be used in many ways: as room dcor, table decoration, mobiles, or on greeting cardsthey are a real eye-catcher!
The Right Wire
There are several types of wire you can use. For the projects shown in this book, hardened iron wirealso known as florist wireworks best. Aluminum, copper, or brass wire may also be used. The thinner the wire, the easier it will be to bend. Thick wire is harder to bend, but allows for more stable figures. This can be an advantage for larger projects.
For most steps, you only need your hands, so you can get started without much preparation. You may need to use flat- or round-nose pliers when making very fine adjustments. Other useful tools for bending wire include corkboards, pins, and small clothespins; these all prevent the objects from slipping while working, as well. You will also need a sharp pair of wire cutters. Have all of these items within easy reach while making the projects in this book.
