- Importance of breakfast
- Advantages of having breakfast
The Importance of Breakfast
T he word breakfast is a shortened version of the term, break the fast. When you sleep, your body consumes stored energy to fuel its vital functions all throughout the night. During this period, the longer you sleep, the longer your fast is and the hungrier you become. The first meal you take when you wake up is the meal that will break the fast. This means the first meal is not only important to recover what you have consumed during the hours you were asleep but also to provide the energy needed for the rest of the day or up until your next meal.
The Advantages of Having Breakfast
S tudies show the people who ate breakfast have noticeable advantages over those who do not eat breakfasts. They have better memory, sharper concentration and focus and more able to cope with stress. The body has also more strength and endurance. This meal is especially important for children who require large amounts of energy both for their physical activities and their growth.
One of the most important benefits of eating breakfast is on weight control. When you eat breakfast, you have fewer hunger pangs throughout the day, which reduces the amount of food that you consume. Skipping breakfast may reduce the number of calories that you eat in a day but because of the increased level of hunger, you tend to eat more during lunch and snacks in between meals.
