Andrew Fuller is a clinical psychologist who specializes in neuroscience, learning, and resilience. He works with schools around the globe to help increase the well-being and success of young people. Andrews early career began in psychiatric crisis teams, where he often worked with people who were contemplating suicide. This led him to discover his passion for working with people to help them create futures they can fall in love with. Andrew is the author of many books, including Unlocking Your Childs Genius: How to Discover and Encourage Your Childs Natural Talents (2015), Tricky Kids: Transforming Conflict and Freeing Their Potential (2013a), Tricky Teens: How to Create a Great Relationship With Your Teen Without Going Crazy! At first meeting you would be forgiven for assuming Andrew Fuller is more - photo 7

At first meeting, you would be forgiven for assuming Andrew Fuller is more qualified to speak about surfing than psychology. His sunburst locks and casual wardrobe may initially mislead a crowd of people who are poised to have their problems solved through a keynote or two. There is something quite disarming about his rascal-like appearanceaccentuated by a mischievous grinand his contagious laughter. But all these outer indicators speak to how grounded Andrew is, as well as his distaste for anything pretentious and his deep commitment to joy.

I first encountered Andrews expertise in 2005 in New Zealand, when I watched him address more than two hundred educators with clarity and levity in equal measure. During his presentation, I reflected on how the science of psychology was merging with the craft of communication. While lines forming at the end of sessions are not unique, I watched how many people wanted to step forward and enjoy a more intimate dialogue with Andrew. The attraction was possibly as much about his manner as about his knowledge. Approachable, articulate, and witty, Andrew is authentic and very engaging, so much so that it has a mirroring effect. Somehow you just want to show up open and unvarnished with Andrewto share who you are and what is written on your heart and mind.

My first opportunity to actively share with Andrew was as an educator. Based on his performance in New Zealand, I started booking him to engage with students, parents, and teachers at my school. With groups of multiage students, he would ride the waves of energy and emotion like a master teacher. I would watch students absorb and note down his strategies with an intensity usually only reserved for those they felt were
