C olorado was the thirty -eighth state to join the Union in the year 1876. With its gorgeous landscapes and unique mountains, it quickly stood out among the other United States. Towering waterfalls and clear hot springs are just some of the outstanding features that make this state a must for your next trip.

Colorado is a paradise for the outdoorsy people that like to set their sights high on fast-paced, adrenaline-pumping activities. Whether you enjoy fishing, mountain biking, skiing, canoeing, or swimming, there is something for everyone in this magnificent state.

The Best Time to Plan a Visit

Colorado is one of the most beautiful and enchanting states in all of the U.S. With its plentiful waterfalls and outstanding hikes, it is no wonder that Colorado remains a vibrant destination for all travelers. If you are planning a trip to see this great state you may be wondering when is the best time of year to visit.

  1. Spring (March, April, May): There is no doubt that spring is one of the best times of year to discover Colorado. Although weather fluctuates throughout the state depending on the area, spring is a pretty safe bet when looking for consistent weather. With an average temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) and cool winds, spring allows for travelers to enjoy the perfect mixture of all Colorado has to offer.
  2. Summer (June, July, August): Summer will always remain a favorite among the outdoorsy types. Perfect for long summer nights lounging around a campfire. Summers provide long days that allow travelers to see a multitude of gorgeous scenery. The summer months are also fabulous for those who enjoy watching their favorite live concerts as many musicals perform in the larger cities. What more could you ask for then to watch The Weekend perform live on stage and go river kayaking all in the same day! However, if you are planning to visit during these months be aware that temperatures can often reach up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius).
  3. Fall (September, October, November): Fall is undeniably gorgeous in Colorado. There is a delectable charm during the fall that is enhanced by fresh apple trees and pumpkin farms. It is during this season that every tree transforms into bright yellow, orange, and red leaves. It is the perfect time to walk through meadows and snap that perfect Instagram photo among the small fishing rivers and streams. Fall also ensures relatively calm temperatures that begin to fall towards the more winter months.
  4. Winter (December, January, February): Dont let the fact that winter has the absolute coldest temperatures deter you from traveling to Colorado during this time. The winter months can be a spectacular time to visit, especially during the holidays. Winter in Colorado is home to some of the most intense Olympic games with snowboarding and skiing attracting travelers from all over the world. If youre looking for more unique experiences, look no further than dog sledding as Colorado is known for their lovable and adventurous pups!

Where to Visit

Colorado is home to four major cities and two popular ski towns. Because of this, there is no shortage of fabulous places to see. If you are unsure of exactly which major city and town has what you need in a vacation, here is what you need to know before arriving:

Denver

Originally called Montana City, Denver was founded during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush during 1858. The city grew exponentially during the 1940s and 1950s when suburbia became the basis for the everyday American. As decades went on, Denvers population continued to skyrocket with many finding charm in its tall buildings and natural landscapes. Denver would eventually become known as the Mile High Club, due to its above sea level elevation. This makes it a distinctive place to live. In 2016, U.S. News & World Report named it the best city in America to live in.

Denver is a large city with a population of 700,000. It is currently among the fastest growing cities in the United States making it a top location to see. The city draws in tourists from all walks of life with young professionals being the majority. It continues to rapidly grow in the entrepreneur workforce and technology companies. This is because start-up companies that specifically deal with tech absolutely love the versatility of Denver. With the mountains available from all views and a metropolitan city center, it is easy to see why Denver will continue to grow exponentially in the next few years.

This city is known for the best food and most action. As Colorados capital, Denver delivers on both nightlife and culture. The Mile High City, Denver, is the best place to experience great weather with spectacular views of the Pikes Peak mountains. Youll find that the locals love to showcase their city and are proud of the environmentally friendly approach that they take to respect the natural resources available. Many residents partake in biking to their destinations and visiting the many farmers markets that are available during the summer months.

Denver has an unlimited amount of activities. Forney Museum of Transportation has rotating exhibits and a large number of long standing exhibits. These include Amelia Earharts Kissel car and 1930s steam tractors. The museum has an Adopt-An-Artifact program that gives visitors the chance to essentially adopt an artifact and explore its history.

Just a twenty-minute drive away from downtown Denver is the town of Morrison. Morrison has one of the best places to see some of your favorite artists perform. At the Red Rocks Amphitheater, you can watch musicals such as Greta Van Fleet and Glass Animals perform on Colorados most iconic stage.
