Bake your own dog treats and spoil your pooch with these delicious and healthy organic recipes!Suitable for most dogs including those with common allergies, this book is the perfect gift for all dog lovers. The Waggy Dog Bakehouse Organic Dog Treats Cookbook is the result of 4 years of testing, baking and talking to customers about their dogs all over Australia. Most commercial dog food found in supermarkets is wheat based, contains indigestible fillers and starch and other common allergens such as corn or soy. Add chemical preservatives, flavour enhancers and artificial colours to the mix, and it is easy to see why it is making some dogs sick.Dog food allergies account for up to 5% of all canine dermatoses.Signs are predominantly associated with skin (including ear infections) and/or the gastrointestinal tract. In order of the most common offenders in dogs are beef, dairy products, fish, corn, wheat and soy.Gluten intolerance is affecting many breeds of our dogs and cats. Our pets have only been eating wheat-based pet foods for about 20 years so it is not surprising that many of our pets have an intolerance to it. Wheat gluten can and does cause conditions such as kidney failure.Organic ingredients do not contain toxic pesticides, GMOs or chemical additives. This supports your dogs immune system to help build resistance to skin infections. In response to the many concerns about many commercial pet foods currently on the market, Waggy Dog Bakehouse has created a range of treats that are:- Grain and gluten-free- Dairy-free- Corn and soy freeand contain no artificial colours or preservatives.Whats Inside- 45 pages of original recipes and tips.- Ingredients and nutritional benefits- Healthy every-day treats- Grain and dairy-free birthday cake- Doggy dairy-free ice-cream- Christmas and Easter gifts- and lots more! Not only are the recipes in this book safe for most dogs, but they are also drool-icious! Introduction
Photo courtesy -Houndstooth Studio I got the ideafor making my own dog treats - photo 3 Photo courtesy -Houndstooth Studio I got the ideafor making my own dog treats when I was poking around on theinternet and found some cute bone shaped cookie cutters. I decidedto bake some cookies for my dog Ollie and then started searchingfor recipes. The problem was that I couldnt find many productsthat looked healthy and natural. Most of the ingredients listsincluded wheat and corn (see allergies information below) andoften with added sugar.

So I decided to make my own! I spent 6months researching ingredients which would make my biscuits safefor almost any dog to eat. That meant: Grain-Free Dairy-Free Gluten-Free No addedsugar Corn-Free Nopreservatives Soy-Free No artificialcolours All of therecipes in this book are vegetarian. Firstly because although Irecognise that dogs are omnivores, beef and chicken allergies arequite common in dogs and I wanted to present a range of treats thatwas safe for most dogs. These treats are not intended to replacemore than 10% of a well-balanced diet. Although I myself am avegetarian, I am a strong advocate of raw diets for dogs and Olliedoes get his fair share of raw meaty bones. If you can sourcefree-range organic meat, then your dog will feel the benefits andyou will be making a difference to the welfare of farm animals.

Of course Ialso wanted my treats to be mouth-watering and irresistiblydelicious for our dogs! The end result is a healthy and tastyfreshly baked organic treat which will have them begging formore. I hope yourdogs enjoy my recipes as much as Ollie does. I am delighted to beable to share them with you. By purchasing this book you arehelping to support dogs in need as 10% of the proceeds are beingdonated to the Dogs RefugeHome and to OscarsLaw . Special thanksto: Alex Cearns andDebora Brown of HoundstoothStudio for all of their support and friendship and forsome of the gorgeous images in this book. All of theWaggy Dogs and their Pawrents!
