During the winter, buy seeds to start inside. With scissors, cut off one side of a milk carton and staple the opening. Fill halfway with potting soil and lightly sprinkle with water to dampen. Sow seeds, one kind per carton, according to the directions on the packet. Label the carton or staple the seed packet to one end. Cover with plastic wrap and place in a dark, dry place until seeds germinate. Remove wrap and place in a sunny spot, watering often. When seedlings are 2 or 3 inches high, transplant 6-8 into smaller plastic containers. In a few weeks they will be ready for sale.

Directions
For this idea, it is best to be at least 10 years old and to know how to take care of small children. Aside from evening babysitting, you should consider watching children after school until parents get off work, playing with children on Saturdays or Sundays, doing childcare during school holidays when parents are working, and staying with children before school when parents have to leave early to go to work. Also consider asking the managers of hair salons, athletic clubs, tanning booths, nail care salons, and health clubs if they could use childcare services. Adult parties and gatherings usually need a babysitting service, especially for baby and wedding showers, Tupperware parties, support groups, volunteer meetings, and women's clubs. Check your local newspaper for dates and times of meetings, then call and see if they need a sitter.
