Discover Your Own Beauty
This book will help you discover your own beauty, from the inside out, with natural skin-care recipes and creative self-care projects to help you glow with health and happiness. Taking time to nurture your mind, body, and spirit is key to your overall well-being. Ultimately, self-care leads to wellness, and wellness leads to beauty. Making healthy choices about what you put in and on your body translates into a clear message that you matter that YOU are important!
Everyone wants to feel healthy and beautiful, but the pressure to look like the glamorous pop-culture images can be frustrating and confusing. The beauty industry wants you to believe that it has all the answers, and its willing to sell you quick fixes to real or imagined problems. The truth is, theres no need to spend lots of money on fancy store-bought products or to schedule regular appointments at a spa to feel good and look good. You can take your health into your own hands!
I learned this when I was a young teenager. Walking home from school every day, I passed a drugstore. Id often cruise the aisles searching for something to help with the pimples that were arriving with my changing skin. I never had enough money in my wallet to afford the creams, so I got resourceful. In a teen magazine I read an article about making facial masks out of common kitchen ingredients. I tried a few recipes and was hooked right away! Making my own skin-care products was easy and almost free, and I knew exactly what I was putting on my face. Plus, my skin was clearer, smoother, and happier.
Ive been making homemade masks and other skin-care products ever since. These days Im creating them with my teenage daughter and all of her friends, and wed like to teach you how, too. When you make something by hand, you feel a deeper connection to it and appreciation for it when you use it. DIY is totally empowering, not to mention fun! Invite a couple of friends over and share a home spa afternoon with facials, homemade hair treatments, and soothing pedicures.
My recipes and instructions are easy to follow and often call for familiar ingredients that are good enough to eat like honey, oats, coconut oil, sugar, and strawberries. Because the products youll make are all natural, with no preservatives, you should use them up within a few weeks. Store them in a cool, dry place, and discard immediately if you notice they have changed colors or smell unpleasant.
Within these pages youll find everything you need to become your own wellness expert. Youll learn to how to convert your kitchen into a laboratory for crafting customized cleansers, lotions, and hair products. Youll discover tips for sleeping better and relaxing more. Youll even be able to transform your bathroom into a sanctuary for winding down and recharging.
True wellness comes from radiant health and loving yourself and the skin youre in. Are you ready to glow?
DIY is totally empowering, not to mention fun!
