Ben Lau has worked as a software and build engineer since the mid 90s. He began his career as an intern for a major university in Southern California, working on virtual reality training systems, and continued there for almost 10 years, working on a variety of projects. After leaving the university to join a spin-off developing language training applications for the military, he began to specialize in build and release engineering and also branched out into automated testing. He is currently employed at a midsized startup in the Los Angeles area, working as their build and release manager.
Id like to thank my spouse for her encouragement while producing this book as well as the whole Sikuli community for creating and supporting this wonderful tool.
Purna Chander has more than 10 years of experience in software testing the client/server and web-based applications. He has a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. His goal is to reduce the manual effort of testing the applications to bring down the time from days to hours and hours to minutes. He has also worked with clients such as Google and Yahoo as part of software testing to build customized tools based on PERL/PYTHON. He holds a certification in PERL from BrainBench and also in CHFI (EC-Council.org) and implemented security testing (http://www.eccouncil.org/).
He lives with his wife, Latha; daughter, Lakshmi; and son, Likhith.
Sikuli is his favorite R&D tool, and he implemented this tool while working with KONY. At that time, there were no commercial or open source tools for testing mobile applications. Sikuli, along with Python, helped him to build a test automation framework that does tests on iPhone, Andriod, BlackBerry (touch and non-touch) and Windows emulators. He has worked with Hypersoft Technologies, Mindtree.com (clients Yahoo and Google), Kony.com, and HostAnalytics.com.
