Every project includes step-by-step instructions and lists of materials, skills, and time needed. The projects are unique but simple, so all parents, educators, caregivers and children can easily make them. Materials for each project are easy-to-find and inexpensive, most of which are available at home. Simple techniques learned from this book will encourage children to create many more projects of their own. Sometimes a little help or guidance from parents, teachers and mentors may be necessary, but help should be kept to a minimum to enable the child to get maximum satisfaction from the finished result. O ccasionally, in the instructions, you will find a diagram printed on a grid; this is to help you draw the required shape to the correct size.

The following notes explain how to use the grid. 1. On the printed grid you will see the size of one square marked by arrows. This is the size each square must be when you draw your grid. 2. 3. 3.

Pencil in the upright lines using a ruler to keep them straight. 4. Use a set square to draw the top line of your grid. Place the ruler against it if it is not big enough. 5. 6. 6.

Now draw the shape onto your grid square by square. As an example, go back to drawing No. 1. You will see that the outline starts on the second square down. It goes horizontally across two squares, begins to go up on the third square, then goes right up into the top line at the fourth square and so on.

Turn over and fold points FGHI into centre as shown. Turn over and fold points JKLM into centre as shown. Turn over again and open out lines IN/HN/GN/FN as shown. Now flatten out as diagram. Fold points JKLM down as shown to make legs. Fold along line FX and tuck in Z. Fold along line FX and tuck in Z.

Repeat on other side. Repeat instructions 1 to 7 for two more sections Fit the three sections together as shown, and decorate with cotton wool. Bend points 1,2 up for ears, 3, 4, 5 and 6 down for legs.
