he RAE dictionary gives the following definition of the word hydroponics: "Cultivation of plants in aqueous solutions, usually with some support of sand, gravel, etc.".

That is, in short. I would add that it can be done in one of two ways: with bare roots that grow in a nutrient solution, or with an inert substrate that is not soil. In some languages, there is a difference between the two. Hydroponics is reserved for cultivation in pure water, while the term outside the soil is specific for cultivation on a base substrate. The basic principles of hydroponics are very simple, almost childish: the oxygenated nutrient solution must be kept at a temperature bearable, and you have to provide the plants with the nutrients they need. The part about oxygenation is the core. To make a good hydroponic system, water must be saturated with oxygen at all times. Once you know this, you could almost throw away the book: you will have learned the most critical factor, which is so important that I will return to it frequently.
