The History of Disney CruiseLine
1980s Disneypartnered with Premier Cruise Line to offer vacation packagesincluding both cruises and stays at Walt Disney World. The Premierships had Disney Characters on board.
1995 The DisneyCompany ended its arrangement with Premier when Disney Cruise Linewas created. Two ships were commissioned to be built at Fincantieriin Italy.
1998 opened the same day.
1999 began operating on August 15th.
2007 Disneyannounced the creation of two new ships, and Disney Fantasy.
2011 embarked on its maiden voyage inJanuary.

Disney Magic
Whats cool about this ship?
1. Disney Magic was built in 1998. Itshorn blasts seven notes from WhenYou Wish Upon a Star. (All Disney Cruise Lineships do this). The ship goes on 6, 7, and 8-night cruises throughthe Caribbean , as well as on longer cruises throughthe Mediterranean .
2. Disney Magics sister ship is They both have room for2,400 passengers at one time.
3. Disney Magic was built in the Fincantieri shipyards in Italy and has 11decks. It is 964 feet long. At its widest point, the ship is 106feet across.
4. Disney had to get permission from the U.S.Coast Guard to have yellow instead of regulation orange lifeboats.Disney wanted yellow because it fit the Mickey-Mouse color schemeof the whole ship.
5. The ship has Wi-Fi service so you can surfthe web throughout your vacation. It does cost extra, though.

What is there to do on board for kids?
1. Please note that everything described hereis the similar aboard Wonder. The Oceaneer Club is onDeck 5 and designed for kids aged 3 to 10. You can dress up, playcomputer games, check out the crows next slide and rope bridge, orbust a move on the dance floor. Take part in Toy Story BootCamp, or earn your ears as part of Mouseketeer Training. TheOceaneer Lab nearby is the place to be if you want to doscience experiments, read, or check out an awesome interactive labstation. There are also lots of fun activities to try, likeKim Possible: Cruise Control andGoofin Around with Animation.
2. Edge is the ship spot for tweens.You can play video games, watch TV or surf the web here. Check outthe replica of the ships bridge and a pilot navigation simulator.Cool! There are also a bunch of comfy couches and a place for artsand crafts.
3. Vibe is the lounge for your olderbrother or sisterthink teen central. But dont worry, StudioSea on Deck 4 is for the whole family. Its themed to look likea television studio where you can dance, sing, or enjoy liveentertainment.
