This book is dedicated: to my father, Paul, a WWII Marine veteran and beer drinker who gave me so much in so little time; to my mother, Doris, full of nurturing love and a likewise meticulous collector of information; and to my wife, Patty, my love and barstool partner in life.

About the Author
I t all began with a Miller High Life. As barely a teenager, I recall smelling one of my dads clear bottles of the Champagne of Beers and wondering what it was about beer that adults liked so much. It may have been made the American way with purity you could see and quality you could taste, but I wasnt getting it.
When pouring a beer for Dad one summer afternoon, he hollered in from the patio wondering what I could be doing that was taking so long. Well, I figured if ice cubes are a part of other alchoholic beverages such as gin and tonics, then surely some crushed ice would be fine for this beverage too. After all, it was hot outside. By the time I unplugged the ice crusher and presented him with this beer, the damage had already been done. He was understanding, yet left me with no doubt that under no circumstances should I ever add ice to beer again.
