There has been a push in education for years to prepare learners to thrive in an unpredictable world. We know our world today needs people who can think differently, solve problems, and thrive in a constantly changing society. Living through the COVID-19 global pandemic is certainly evidence of how unpredictable the world can be and why it is so critical to have the skills that the World Economic Forum highlights as necessities, including being able to think critically, be a complex problem solver, navigate complexity, and learn emotional intelligence, to name a few (Kruchoski, 2016). Rightfully, many school communities have highlighted the importance of social-emotional health, equity, and access in a time of uncertainty and challenge.
