praise for gather
In Gather , Hayley Mason and Bill Staley have captured the essence of what it means to dine in the finest Primal style. They understand that eating ought to be a visceral pleasure that transcends simply getting the macronutrient ratios right. They beautifully and artfully cover the entire experience, from the process of selecting and preparing food, to creating a warm and inviting setting and ultimately sharing it with your tribe of friends and loved ones. Of course, their recipes also result in the kinds of delicious meals that turn non-paleos into ardent believers.

If you're on a Paleo diet and you love food, this book is for you. A lot of early Paleo cookbooks were long on health but short on flavor and creativity. Bill & Hayley's book is proof that it's possible to eat and entertain like a gourmet without gluten, grains or other "non-Paleo" ingredients. If you're a Paleo foodie like I am, Gather is a must on your kitchen shelf.

Hayley Mason and Bill Staley are true masters of the art of delicious, beautiful, nourishing food, yet their greatest talent is something even more powerful than that. Hayley and Bill have the gift of translating their elegant taste into something both instinctual and accessible. With Gather, they have awakened that primal desire within us all to share the gift of food, and they've done so while harnessing the deeply-rooted sense of joy and creativity that lies within each of us.

Martha Stewart meets Cro Magnon! Bill Staley and Hayley Mason have taken the Paleo experience out of the sweat of Crossfit gyms, away from the forest and savannah, and launched an elegant 21st century interpretation of this lifestyle. No preceding Paleo cookbook has cast these ideas into such a luxurious and cultured setting, all viewed from the perspective of gathering and entertaining. Beautifully photographed, with uniquely clever approaches to the menu, such as Night in Tuscany, Takeout Fake-out, and Hunter-Gatherer Feast, Gather will be a classic favorite for grain-free living.

a note from Hayley and Bill
What you hold in your hands is a Paleo lifestyle cookbook, not a Paleo diet cookbook. In the last few years, weve noticed several ways people find the Paleo diet. Whether they find it through a CrossFit gym, in an attempt to manage a chronic disease, or as a means of weight loss and health improvement, the Paleo diet ultimately becomes a lifestyle after a short period as a diet. A lifestyle, unlike a diet, includes allowances for holidays, special occasions, and celebrations. We believe following a Paleo lifestyle is the best way to nourish our bodies, so we wrote this book to help people maintain a healthy lifestyle while also enjoying their lives!
Throughout the process of writing this book, we had many wonderful opportunities to entertain large groups of our family members and friends. It was clear to us, week after week, that serving good, Paleo-friendly food did not need an excuse or an explanation. When you serve dishes made with real, fresh ingredients, they speak for themselves. The meals also sparked lively conversations about the benefits of eating a grain-free diet. Food has an amazing way of bringing people together, and when you do so with healthy food, it has the power to drive dramatic change. It is our hope that this book will do the same for you. By bringing you and your friends together, it will hopefully influence more people to start eating real food.
