"Never underestimate how an exemplary life can persist in the imagination of others. How it can inspire beyond death."
Ariel Dorfman
The words of the Chilean poet Ariel Dorfman seem particularly apt to the life of Frankie Randolph. The book you are about to read is filled with interviews and insights of those who knew Frankie Randolph personally, who worked with her, and who acknowledged her courage and fortitude.
I, on the other hand, and many of my contemporaries who followed her, gained so much from her exemplary life. During my first term in the Texas House of Representatives, I began coming to Houston to discuss what was happening in the Texas legislature. I was asked to do this by my fellow legislators who were members of the Harris County Democrats, and I continued to update legislative activities during the "Dirty Thirty" days of 1971.
