Dr Julie-Anne Sykley is full-blood Ukrainian a descendant of the dark wild - photo 1

Dr. Julie-Anne Sykley is full-blood Ukrainian a descendant of the dark, wild places of East Europe. Hey, thats vampire country! Traditional vampire myths originate in Slavic folklore for the winters are long and cold here, and the landscape raw and rugged. In fact, the word vampire derives from the Slavic root pi , which means to drink or drain.

Julie-Anne is also a fully qualified Australian Psychologist with more than 20 years professional experience helping people. From inner city Sydney to the remote Territory outback, she has assisted young people, adults, offenders, prisoners, and traditional Aboriginal people to deal with a wide range of mental health issues. Julie-Anne is keen to promote mental health skills and increase peoples power to relax, solve problems, and develop positive coping strategies. This is why she wrote this book for you!

Julie-Anne currently resides in the Northern Territory where she lives with cyclones, crocodiles, her partner Steffanko (a Croatian vampire) and a bright red parrot named Ruby.

Beware! If Julie-Anne was ever turned into a Twilight -style vampire, her gift would be a non-stop crazy super-humor.

What does the cover design mean?

The apple a symbol of knowledge, immortality and temptation used in The Twilight Saga is set on fire. This image is trying to let readers know just how hot symbols really are. Symbols have the power to chill and thrill, frighten and brighten, teach and stimulate, stir and agitate, guide and motivate, and set your inner world on fire. This book explores powerful symbols in the Twilight books and looks at how these symbols can work for you in real life. But beware. You may find some symbols so hypnotic, irresistible, and dazzling that they will make you burn for more, so to speak.

Appendix 1
Score Regarding Edward Cullens
Communication Style in Twilight
EyeVoiceSmile Scores

So what makes Edward Cullen so alluring? His eyes? His voice? Or his smile? When you quantify his communication style in Twilight by counting the number of times he uses his eyes, voice, and smiles when interacting with Bella, the results are:

Eye expressions used 335 times

Voice used 330 times

Smiling behavior 174 times

What does this mean? It means that in numerical terms in a novel, Edwards eyes and voice are equally alluring. Edward uses the power of his eyes as well as his voice to the same extent, when communicating to others, almost always Bella. Eye communication occurs nearly twice as much as smiles. The number of times Edward uses his voice is also nearly double that of smiles. It is interesting to note that while many fans adore Edwards golden eyes, the color of his eyes was mentioned 16 times in Twilight , just under 5% of all eye communications, which is a very small proportion. Perhaps visual information is more important and compelling to the perceiver than other aspects.
