PRAISE FOR ANCHORED IN LOVE
John Carter Cash was born into royalty, the answer to his legendary parents prayers. I can still see the pictureon the front page of the newspaper in Lima, Peruof John and Junes joyful faces beaming down at the tiny piece of their love made visible.
The apple didnt fall too far from the tree, both a blessing and a curse, and John Carters lifelike that of his parentshas been full of higher highs and lower lows than most. But his heart and his soul, like the powerful spirits of both his parents, have brought out the best in him and it shines through the pages of this loving portrait of the kind, generous, funny, brave, beautiful woman his mother was. John and June would have been proud.

Writin such a beautiful book about his own mama is a great gift John Carter has given to her memory, and to the world. Sharing these memories with all of us is so special, and I love John Carter Cash for doing this.

Anchored in Love is extraordinarily courageous and meticulously truthful, written in a graceful, poignant narrative that serves and illuminates my stepmothers life. Although he may not have intended it to be so, the book is ultimately a testament to my brother. He writes without self-pity and with a clarity and objectivity that is startlingand commendable. I thought I knew my family pretty well. I learned more in these pages.
ROSANNECASH
What a loving portrait you have written about your mother. Im so proud of you... Shes proud of you too. Im grateful to God that I was a small part of her life... She was, and is, a big part of mine.

June Carter lived literally her whole life on a stage. To her fans, she was the sassy, saucy singing partner and soul mate to one of musics greatest icons. To herself, she was the self-designated matriarch and keeper of country musics most revered family name. But behind the Country Girl persona was an enormously complex and often-tormented woman. Although she played for presidents and princes on the great music stages of the world, the reality of her life was not always so exalted. Only one person could possibly peel back the layers and take us into the shadows of this lady. In this extraordinary account, John Carter Cash chronicles a life of destiny and despair as seen through a sons eyesand heart. Be prepared to smile and celebrate. And to cry. For while history will forever define June by her role as Johnny Cashs queen consort, you will learn that there were tears on that crown. This is a unique, compelling look into the high price June Carter Cash paid for her name.

When I first met June Carter Cash, I was immediately embraced by her warmth, her charisma, and her generosity (something Im convinced all first timers experienced). From those initial meetings, many wonderful friendships flourished and grew.
I have always felt, and still feel, that I was a friend of Junes.
She was (and in memory still is) a true child of the beautiful mountain region of rural, southwest Virginia who became a devoted wife, a mother, and a national and international performer.
Deep religious convictions served June in all aspects of her lifeand what an active life! And what a sense of humor! The family always came first: her husband John, son John Carter, and her other grown children.
I can well remember June cooking her famous mater (tomato) dumplings or helping John fix his tall, nightly glass of cold buttermilk with a big chunk of cornbread floating in it before he went off to bed. I remember well when June would amuse us all with the dancing of a jig or the mountain flat foot. Her humor was always in evidencean entertainer at home and abroad.
I hope all of those who knew June feel as blessed as I do at having known her because we were all able to share a portion of her life.
The memory of this wonderful mountain woman will be remembered through the ages and will most certainly live and relive into the future in my memory.
Her grace is far-reaching.
When Kate Etue and David Moberg from Thomas Nelson Publishers suggested that I write about my mothers life, I was apprehensive and hesitant. How could I do my mother justice in fifty thousand words? How could I tell a comprehensive tale of a life so strong, diverse, and influential? As her son, how could I remove myself enough from her legacy to be truly objective? Most worrisome, how could I honestly tell her story without speaking of the dark times, of her shortcomings and addictions, without seeming angry or betraying some sadness I would rather keep hidden?
