Front cover and title page: On 13 July Damien Parer watched as A lad assisted by Gordon Ayre came along the track. He had a dressing over his forehead covering his eyes and his arm was in a sling. I got a walking shot of him. He rested in the old RAP and Gordon Ayre took him forward. I went along. The rain started to come down and as Gordon was helping him across the creek a line of carriers passed then. I got a long shot & a close up they the best two Ive done so far. (still from Damien Parer film, AWM 127971).
