COVER ARTIST
WILLIAM G. MULLER
Marine artist William G. Muller created the impressive paintings and cover design for this book. He has a long and intense artistic interest in the majesty and romance of the classic American steamboat.
He has been particularly close to the steamboats of the Hudson, a now extinct species, having served as Quartermaster pilot of the ALEXANDER HAMILTON, last of the sidewheelers, while a youth in the mid-1950's.
Widely known today for his carefully-researched, lively paintings of historic and contemporary shipping, Bill Muller's work is sought by collectors and commissioned by publishers and maritime companies.
He is a founding director and academician-member of the American Society of Marine Artists, and founding director of The Hudson River Maritime Center Museumg.
