Preface
The authors of this book hold, or have held, positions with the University of Phoenix (UOP) and its sister company, the Institute for Professional Development (IPD). However, one change, which most of them recommended, we have chosen not to adopt. This was the recommendation to excise the argument in favor of a for-profit institutional structure as the preferred structure for the adult-centered university. Our academic critics have pointed out that fa-
