CHAPTER 6
WHY DOES THE LEFT
HATE JESUS?
ITS HARD TO believe American teenagers could be arrested for delivering a prayer, but thats the kind of nation we live ina nation that was fundamentally transformed by the Obama administration.
In 2011, the class president at Hampton High School in Tennessee wanted to deliver a prayer at graduation. The principal issued an edict that any child who attempted to pray would be stopped, escorted from the building by police, and arrested.
That incident was one of dozens included in a stunning Family Research Council report documenting a significant upsurge in government hostility to religion. From 2014 to 2017, there was a 76 percent increase in religious freedom violations, according to Hostility to Religion: The Growing Threat to Religious Liberty in America .
The recent spike in government driven religious hostility is sad, but not surprising, especially considering the Obama administrations antagonism toward biblical Christianity, Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said.
Perkins said the sixty-six-page report underscores the legitimacy of the actions taken by President Trump to end policies in federal agencies that fan the flames of this religious intolerance.
This report is designed to quantify the threat to our First freedom and to challenge Americans to use their God-given freedoms to protect these freedoms we enjoy as Americans, Perkins said.
In Florida, Pace high school Principal Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman were charged with criminal contempt because they prayed over a meal. The pair was later found not guilty of violating an injunction banning the promotion of religious events at school.
A Christian a capella group at James Madison University was told they could not perform Mary, Did You Know? because it was religious. They were directed to sing only secular songs.
Allstate Insurance Company fired a staffer for allegedly using a company laptop to write a column against homosexuality. The company alleged said the column violated its diversity standards.
San Diego firefighters were threatened with disciplinary action if they refused to participate in a gay pride parade. The firefighters were subjected to verbal abuse and sexual gestures during the parade.
A woman who rented out rooms in her home was sued after she refused to rent to a same-sex couple.
An Oklahoma bank was forced to remove religious Christmas decorations under orders from the Federal Reserve.
Travis Weber, FRCs director of the Center for Religious Liberty, said he hopes the report will be a wakeup call for people of faith.
In a society like ours, we must be the guardians of our own freedom, he said. Anyone who desires freedom in the future must take note of what these trends tell us about our freedom right nowrelative to where we have come fromin order to protect freedom from going forward.
Ive compiled a collection of stories that illustrate the grave dangers facing religious liberty. Much like the Islamic radicals, the atheists and secularists want to erase Christianity from the public marketplace. And they are waging their cultural jihad not with bombsbut with lawsuits.
JOY BEHAR QUESTIONS A CHRISTIANS SANITY
Evangelical leader Franklin Graham said on the Todd Starnes Radio Show that every Christian in the nation should be offended and alarmed by anti-Christian rhetoric that was broadcast on ABCs The View .
Joy Behar, one of the co-hosts of The View , suggested in February 2018 that Christians who listen to the voice of God may be mentally ill.
Graham, the president of Samaritans Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said he could not believe ABC News would permit such dangerous rhetoric to be broadcast on national television.
Every Christian who is listening right nowwhether you are a Catholic, whether you are a Protestant, Baptist, Evangelicalwhatever you may bePentecostalthis should scare the socks off of you, Graham said.
For Joy Behar to say that all Christians are mentally ill is like suggesting we need to lock them up. They need to be taken out of society because these people are a danger, he added.
Behars remarks were in response to a segment on Omarosa Manigault Newman, the reality television star turned White House staffer turned reality television star.
As bad as yall think Trump is, you would be worried about Pence. So everybody thats wishing for impeachment, might want to reconsider their life, Omarosa said in a clip from Celebrity Big Brother .
I am Christian. I love Jesus, but [Pence] thinks Jesus tells him to say things, Omarosa told her fellow contestants.
Behar was stunned by the revelation that Vice President Mike Pence would listen to the voice of God.
Its one thing to talk to Jesus. Its another thing when Jesus talks to you. Thats called mental illness, if Im not correct, hearing voices, Behar declared.
We are mentally ill because we believe in God and we believe in his son Jesus Christ? Im offended by what she said, Graham told me.
Vice President Pence responded to Behars vile claims during an interview broadcast on C-SPAN.
To have ABC maintain a broadcast forum that compared Christianity to mental illness is just wrong, Pence said on C-SPAN. It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance.
The View co-host Sunny Hostin called the vice presidents Christianity dangerous.
When you have a Mike Pence who now puts this religious veneer on things and who calls people values voters, I think were in a dangerous situation. Look Im Catholic. Im a faithful person, but I dont know that I want my vice president, um, speaking in tongues and having Jesus speak to him, she said.
Brent Bozell, the founder and president of Media Research Center, called on ABC News to apologize for what he called a deplorable episode.
Make no mistake, the slurs against the Vice Presidents faith insult millions of Christians and are unacceptable, Bozell wrote in a letter to the network.
Behar offered a half-hearted apology amid a grassroots uprising that targeted the networks sponsors.
I think Mike Pence, say what you want about him and his religiosity. I dont think hes mentally ill. Even though he is saying he hears voices I dont think hes that crazy, she said.
Whatever.
If ABC News wants to employ a zealous anti-Christian, that is their business.
But lets be honest, had Joy Behar said about gay people what she said about Christians, she wouldve been fired on the spot.
MSNBC TAKES A CHEAP SHOT AT JERRYS KIDS
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow took a cheap shot at Liberty University in a podcast interview with her leftist colleague Chris Hayes .
Maddow bemoaned Christian universities like Liberty as representing this anti-intellectual, anti-elite line of argument that weve seen from right-wing populists since the beginning of time.
Maddow then attempted to prove her point by attacking Kerri Kupec, the new spokesperson for the Justice Department. The story was first reported by Newsbusters.
Weve got a new Justice Department spokesperson whos from Liberty University, and Liberty University was founded by a televangelist so that your Christian child wouldnt be corrupted by actual higher education. And now thats the spokesperson for the Justice Department, she said.
