Not all the people mentioned in the book are listed here but these are the main ones. Typically, Spanish surnames are double-barreled, but not all. The fathers surname (patronym) comes first, then the mothers (matronym). In the book proper, characters with Spanish surnames are generally first referenced by the patronym, e.g.: Pablo Escobar. Here we have listed both names where known or relevant. Aliases or nicknames, common among drug traffickers, are also used where known and some characters are only known by their aliases or nicknames. Pseudonyms are noted. JF & LN
