Rob Baggott is Professor of Public Policy and Director of the Health Policy Research unit at De Montfort University. He has published extensively on health policy and his publications include Understanding health policy (The Policy Press, 2007), Health and health care in Britain (Palgrave Macmillan, 2004), Public health: policy and politics (2nd edition) (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and Partnerships for public health and wellbeing (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013).
Patrick L.J. Bailey is a part-time tutor in the Department of Education, Practice and Society at the University College London Institute of Education. His research interests and publications fit broadly within the sociology of education and policy sociology, with a current focus on: the governing of education and education policy; contemporary and historical discourses of the good teacher; the neoliberalisation of the education state; and developing innovative approaches to policy conceptualisation and analysis. He was awarded a PhD in Sociology in 2015.
Stephen J. Ball is Distinguished Service Professor of Sociology of Education at the University College London Institute of Education. He was elected Fellow of the British Academy in 2006, and is also Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. He is co-founder and Managing Editor of the Journal of Education Policy . His main areas of interest are in sociologically informed education policy analysis and the relationships between education, education policy and social class. Recent books include How schools do policy (with Meg Maguire and Annette Braun) (Routledge, 2012), Global education inc . (Routledge, 2012), Networks, new governance and education (with Carolina Junemann) (The Policy Press, 2012) and Foucault, power and education (Routledge, 2013).
Derek Birrell is Professor of Social Policy at Ulster University. He has published widely on devolution and social policy, including The impact of devolution on social policy (The Policy Press, 2009), Comparing devolved governance (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012) and Multi-level governance and Northern Ireland (with Cathy Gormley Heenan) (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015).
Catherine Bochel is a Reader in Policy Studies at the University of Lincoln. She has published widely on the policy process, participation and petitions systems.
Hugh Bochel is Professor of Public Policy at the University of Lincoln. He has published widely on public and social policy, including Welfare policy under New Labour: views from Westminster (with Andrew Defty) (The Policy Press, 2007), Watching the watchers: Parliament and the intelligence services (with Andrew Defty and Jane Kirkpatrick) (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014) and the edited collection The Conservative Party and social policy (The Policy Press, 2011).
Harriet Churchill is a Lecturer in Social Work in the Department of Sociological Studies, University of Sheffield. Her social policy and social services research interests are in family policy, family support, parenting education, childrens services reform and youth policies. Recent publications and current research examine policy and practice in intensive, multi-agency family support services and family intervention programmes.
Anne Daguerre is an Associate Professor in the Business School at Middlesex University. She has particular interests in welfare reform and the labour market, and has published widely, including Active labour market policies and welfare reform: Europe and the US in comparative perspective (Palgrave, 2007).
Andrew Defty is a Reader in Politics at the University of Lincoln. He has published widely on Parliament, public opinion and the politics of welfare including, Welfare policy under New Labour: views from inside Westminster (with Hugh Bochel) (The Policy Press, 2007) and Watching the watchers: Parliament and the intelligence services (with Hugh Bochel and Jane Kirkpatrick) (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014).
Rosalind Edwards is Professor of Sociology and Social Sciences Director of Research at the University of Southampton. She is a co-director of the Economic and Social Research Council National Centre for Research Methods. She has published widely in the field of family lives and family policies, including a recent co-edited book on Understanding families over time (Palgrave, 2014), as well as on methodology, including What is qualitative interviewing ? (with Janet Holland) (Bloomsbury, 2013).
Nick Ellison is Professor of Social Policy and Head of Department at the University of York. He has published on UK and comparative social policy, the impact of globalisation on welfare states, and contemporary theories of citizenship and social exclusion. Recent articles in Information, Communication and Society and Local Government Studies have examined the role of social media in local forms of citizenship and engagement.
David Etherington is Principal Researcher in the Business School, Middlesex University. He has research interests in comparative welfare and active labour market policy, employment and skills policy, and social inclusion. He has published widely in these areas, including New welfare spaces: labour market policies in the UK and Denmark (VDM Verlag Dr Meller, 2008).
