Franois Blais
Franois Blais teaches political philosophy at Universit Laval (Quebec). He is the author of Un revenu garanti pour tous: Introduction aux principes de allocation universelle (Montreal, Boral, 2001; English translation, Toronto, James Lorimer, 2002). He has also published a number of articles on environmental and social justice.
Louis Guay
Louis Guay is a professor in the Department of Sociology at Universit Laval (Quebec). He has taught and researched on environmental problems, with special emphasis on science and politics in environmental policy-making and on the social construction of ecological problems. He also holds the UNESCO-Universit Laval chair on sustainable development.
Paule Halley
Paule Halley is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Law at Universit Laval (Quebec). She is an attorney and holds a JD. She has authored several publications and conference papers, including Le rgime pnal qubcois de lutte contre la pollution (Cowansville, Yvon Blais, 1997) and Le droit pnal de lenvironnement: Linterdiction de polluer (Cowansville, Yvon Blais, 2001). Her research interests revolve around environmental law and new modes of regulation.
Marc Hufty
Marc Hufty is associate professor of political science at the Graduate Institute of Development Studies, University of Geneva, where he leads the Research Group on Environment and Governance. He has lectured in Madagascar, Chile, Peru, and South Africa. He has been conducting research on the North-South aspects of the political economy of biodiversity since 1993. Among his latest publications is La gouvernance internationale de la biodiversit ( Etudes internationales , vol. 32, no. 1,2001, pp. 5-29).
Jane Hutton
Jane Hutton is currently studying ecology, design, and urban issues in the landscape architecture programme at the University of Toronto. Previously, she studied biology and environmental studies at McGill University and worked with Catherine Potvin, studying traditional plant use in Ipeti, Panama.
Philippe G. Le Prestre
Philippe Le Prestre is professor of political science in the Department of Political Science and at the Institut des sciences de lenvironnement (ISE) of the Universit du Qubec Montral where he specializes in international environmental politics and foreign policy analysis and heads the Global Ecopolitics Observatory. Between 1995 and 1999, he chaired the Environmental Studies Section of the International Studies Association. He is the author of Ecopolitique internationale (1997) and The World Bank and the Environmental Challenge (1989) and edited Protecting the Ozone Layer (1998) and other books on foreign policy.
Dsire M. McGraw
Dsire M. McGraw works as a consultant, researcher, and speaker in the field of international environmental negotiations and communications. She currently lectures on globalization and governance at McGill University and serves as the environmental expert for the G-8 Research Group based at the University of Torontos Munk Centre for International Studies. She has followed the Biodiversity Convention both as a reporter for the Earth Negotiations Bulletin (1993-1997) and as an advisor to the Government of Canada (1997-2001). The CBD also served as the case study for her doctoral research at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Frank Muttenzer
A graduate of the University of Basel Faculty of Law, Frank Muttenzer also studied comparative law and the sociology of law in Brussels before turning to social sciences at the Geneva Institut universitaire dtudes du dveloppement. He has worked on international law pertaining to indigenous populations. His PhD research focuses on legal policy in Africa with a particular focus on environmental problems in Madagascar.
Genevive Patenaude
Genevive Patenaude is a PhD student at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford. Her current research interests include forest ecology, conservation, and issues pertaining to forestry in international policy (notably in relation to the Kyoto Protocol).
