Carles Boix is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Chicago. His research and teaching interests include comparative political economy and comparative politics. He has authored several articles in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, British Journal of Political Science, Electoral Studies, and European Journal of Political Economy and World Politics. His book Political Parties, Growth and Equality (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1998) won the 1999 American Political Science Association Award for the Best Book in Political Economy.
Quim Brugu is Lecturer of Political Science at the Universitat Autnoma de Barcelona (UAB). He has been Visiting Fellow at Fitzwilliams College (University of Cambridge). He is currently Academic Coordinator of the Public Management Master Programme at the UAB. His recent work include s books on local government and public policy.
Michelle Cini is Jean Monnet Senior Lecturer in the Departmenr of Politics, University of Bristol and was Jean Monnet Fellow in the Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute, 19992000. Her recent publications include Merger Control in the European Union, Governance 12/2 (1999) (with L. McGowan); Competition Policy in the European Union (with L. McGowan; Hants: Macmillan, 1998); and The European Commission (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 1996).
Kevin Featherstone is Professor of European Politics and Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration in the Department of European Studies, University of Bradford. His recent work includ es Italy and EMU as a Vincolo Esterno: Empowering the Tcchnocrats, Transforming the State (with Kenneth Dyson; South European Society and Politics 1/2 (Autumn) 1996); and The Road to Maastricht: Negotiating Economic and Monetary Union (with Kenneth Dyson; Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1999).
Marco Giuliani is Associate Professor in Comparative Politics at the University of Milano. His main research interests include the theoretical and empirieal analysis of public policy-making (Dizionario di politiche pubbliche, edited in 1996 with G. Capano; Decidere per l'ambiente, 1998), and the relationship between Italy and the EU (Italy, in D. Rometsch and W. Wessels (ed.), The European Union and Member States (1996); Italy and Europe: Policy Domains and Dynamics, in M. Fedele and R. Leonardi (eds.), Italy: Politics and Policy vol.2, 2000).
Ricard Gom is Leeturer of Political Science at the Universitat Autnorna de Barcelona. In the past he has been Visiting Fellow at the Universities of Warwick and Bath. He is presently Academic Coordinator of Political Science and Sociology Studies at the UAB. His recently published books have been on local and regional government and public policies in Spain.
David Hine is a Fellow of Christ Church, Oxford. His research interests include Italian government and politics and European politics, including the politics of European integration. He is the author of Governing Italy: The Politics of Bargained Pluralism (Oxford: Clarendon, 1993; Beyond the Market: The EU and National Social Policy (London: Routledge, 1998) ed. (with H. Kassim); and Italy: The Return of Politics (Berghaus, Oxford, 2000) ed. (with S. Vassallo).
P.C. Ioakimidis is Professor of European Policy and Institutions, Department of Political Science, University of Athens. His recent work includes The European Union and the Greek State (Athens: Themelio, 1998 (in Greek)); The Model of Foreign Policy-Making in Greece: Personalities Versus Institutions in St. Stavridis, Th. Couloumbis, Th. Veremis and N. Waites (eds.), The Foreign Policies of the European Union's Mediterranean States and Applicant Countries in the 1990's (London: Macmillan, 1999).
George Kazamias is Lecturer in the Department of European Studies, University of Bradford. He has written on Greek politics and contemporary history including The usual Bulgarian stratagems: The Big Three and the end of the Bulgarian occupation of Greek E. Macedonia and Thrace, Sept.Oct. 1944,
