PRAISE FOR THE AUTHOR
Among the ranks of Greta Thunberg and the students of Parkland High School, Jett James Pruitt is a powerful force in the movement of young people shaping our countrys future. His rare voice of progressive conservatism is a refreshing change from the far-left radical ideology of his generation, and bridges the gap between conservative values and economic equality the majority of Americans have long been waiting for.

Ive been privileged to know Jett since he was a young child. I became particularly aware of his keen interest in presidential politics and gifted him with my lifes collection of political memorabilia. Today, he is a compelling voice of young America and his first book, Through the Eyes of a Young American, is vital for our future and important for us all to read.

When my son was almost three years old, his Autism doctor told me to cancel my college savings plan because my child would probably never speak, let alone write or attend mainstream schools. Well, the book you are about to read was written by that child. And may his incredible words of unity, strength, and common-sense tear down every invisible wall dividing this country with the power of a thousand armies.

Rest In Peace, Grandma Nancy.
Actually, to be an effective person politically in this country, I think you have to be thirty or over, and also you have to be rich, well-placed, you have to be close to power. And I dont think that young people, because they look young, can do much, as I think they are counterproductive.
Kurt Vonnegut, Author
What I try to tell young people is that if you come together with a mission, and its grounded with love and a sense of community, you can make the impossible, possible.
Rep. John Lewis, Politician
INTRODUCTION
The Spirit of America
As I write this, the world has shut down. Stock markets have crashed. All schools are closed. Businesses are locked. Restaurants and movie theaters are dark. Grocery store shelves are bare. Weddings, funerals, concerts, conferences, and graduations are banned. Disney World is closed. All professional sports leagues have cancelled their seasons. My spring break trip to Italy is postponed. My community pool is shut down. Its illegal for me to visit the beach across the street. I am fourteen years old, sitting in a dark bedroom at home, with no distractions a normal teenager should be avoiding while making final revisions to this booknot knowing if it will serve as The Diary of Anne Frank during the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020, or if it will be the wake-up call politicians need to hear from Americas youngest generation, as I had originally intended.
Fourscore and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal
These words, profoundly spoken by our sixteenth president nearly two hundred years ago, barely scratch the surface of how truly resilient and diverse the spirit of America is.
There is no question, America means many different things to many different people.
In the eyes of young children, America means patriotic memories at amusement parks and sporting events like Disneyland, NASCAR, and The Super Bowl. For Wall Street tycoons, America is symbolized by high-priced luxury items that only those who have conquered a capitalist system could ever afford. For average workingmen, America is the hot sun of the day and the cool of night. For adolescents, it is the bustling shopping mall used as a meeting place to see their pals. For immigrants, America is the opportunity to leave poverty or the restriction of wealth accumulation behind, and the chance to change ones socioeconomic class through hard work and discipline.
America is the land of the free for most individuals, with its Constitution guaranteeing fundamental human rights widely held sacred, such as the right to a free press, the freedom of speech, the right to a jury trial, the right to bear arms, and many more.
