Romania as an Energy Actor in the EU
The purpose of this book is twofold. First, it aims to explain the general framework for cooperation in the energy sector in Europe, with a conceptual basis that allows for a better understanding of the dynamics that led to its existence. Second, the volume deals with Romania both as a representative case for the region, given the commonalities raised by the transition process in the last three decades, and also as a country with a specific energy agenda, with implications for internal and foreign policy that can only be perceived and understood in the Romanian context.
Anca Sinea is a researcher in the Political Science Department of the Babei-Bolyai University. She holds a PhD in Political Science. She has a double Bachelors degree in International Relations (from the National School for Political and Administrative Studies, Bucharest) and Political Science (Universit Paris X) and a Masters diploma in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and the University of Vienna. Her subjects of interest include resource politics, energy diplomacy, diplomatic protocol and national security.
Europa Perspectives on the EU Single Market
The EU Single Market series, edited by Christian Schweiger, examines the key challenges for and the future perspectives of the European Union Single Market under the fundamentally altered parameters which have emerged in the aftermath of the global financial crisis, the eurozone sovereign debt crisis and the United Kingdoms decision to leave the EU (Brexit). Contributions to the series analyse changes in the Single Market and eurozone governance architecture, in the national varieties of capitalism, as well as the multiple levels of the deepening internal political and economic differentiation, especially potential alterations to the political and economic parameters of the Single Market. The series can comprise authored monographs and jointly edited collections which fall into these categories, but are not expected to be restricted to any of these issues, and volumes may encompass both regional and country-specific studies in the wider context of the subject area.
Christian Schweiger is Visiting Professor at the Chair for Comparative European Governance Systems in the Institute for Political Science at Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany. His research concentrates on the comparative study of political systems, economies and welfare states of the member states of the European Union (particularly the UK, Germany and transformation in the CEE countries), the political economy of the EU Single Market, economic globalisation and transatlantic relations. His most recent publications include the monograph Exploring the EUs Legitimacy Crisis: The Dark Heart of Europe (Edward Elgar, 2016) and the jointly edited collections Core-periphery Relations in the European Union: Power and conflict in a dualist political economy (Routledge, 2016, with Jos M. Magone and Brigid Laffan) and Central and Eastern Europe in the EU: Challenges and Perspectives Under Crisis Conditions (Routledge 2018, with Anna Visvizi).

To Stefan, Iarina and Doria
None of this could have been possible without my very dear friend, George, who believed in me all throughout my research struggles and imperfect drafts and who has never fatigued to remind me of my strengths; who has taken the manuscript in his hands with such determination to make it the beautiful work it is today. You were just as important to this book getting done as I was, and maybe more. On the way you understood best that writing it was harder than imagined and more rewarding than I could have dreamed of. Thank you!
