Geoff Airo-Farulla is a Senior Lecturer in the Law School at Griffith University, Australia, where he teaches Administrative Law, and Internet Technology and the Law. He is also the Director of the Socio-Legal Research Centre's Governance and Administration program.
Stephen Bell is Associate Professor in politics in the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland, Australia. He has previously been Coordinator of the Graduate Public Policy Program at the University of New England. Before joining the University of Queensland in 1999, he was Associate Professor and Head of the School of Government at the University of Tasmania. His research interests focus on business politics, political economy and the politics of economic policy. He has published widely in leading Australian and international journals and is the author or editor of six books. His most recent books are Ungoverning the Economy: The Political Economy of Australian Economic Policy; The Unemployment Crisis: Which Way Out? and The Institutional Dynamics of Australian Economic Governance: The State, the Market and the Third Way. He is currently working on a book dealing with the politics of monetary policy and the policy independence of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Linda Courtenay Botterill is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the National Europe Centre atthe AustralianNational University (ANU). She has extensive experience in public policy having worked in the Australian Public Service, as a ministerial adviser and as a policy officer in two industry associations before undertaking her doctorate in political science at the ANU. Her research interest is the rural policy development process and her area of expertise is structural adjustment in the rural sector and drought policy.
Jenny Fleming is a Feliow with the Regulatory Network group in the Research School of Social Sciences at the Australian National University. She was a former research fellow with the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance, Griffith University, Australia from which she holds a doctorate. She is co-editor of Motivating Ministers to Morality (2001) and publishes widely on police management, police unionism and public policy. Her research interests include community policing and the politics of criminal justice.
Brian Hardy is Principal Research Fellow at the Nuffield Institute for Health (University of Leeds). He is currently working on four major government-funded evaluations of health and social care policy development. He is the author and co-author of several books and articles in this field, including (with Wistow, G. et al.) Social Care in a Mixed Economy (1994); and (with Wistow, G. et al.) Social Care Markets: Progress and Prospects (1996).
Ian Holland is a Research Specialist at the Department of the Parliamentary Library, Canberra. He was formerly Research Fellow at the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance, Griffith University, from which he holds a doctorate. He is co-editor of Motivating Ministers to Morality (2001), and has published articles on public consultation in the Australian Journal of Political Science and the Australian Journal of Public Administration. He currently conducts research for the Parliamentary Library on political ethics and public administration.
Michael Howes is a Senior Lecturer in environmental policy and regulation at Griffith University's Australian School of Environmental Studies. He previously taught politics at the University of Adelaide and Charles Sturt University. Before becoming an academic Michael worked for several years as an industrial chemist and technical manager in the manufacturing sector. His current research interests include environmental policy making and regulation in federal political systems, national and international sustainable development policies, on-line pollution inventories and cleaner production databases, environment protection institutions, and eco-political theory. He has qualifications in politics, environmental studies, chemistry, and philosophy.
Michele Ivanitz is a Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer in the School of Politics and Public Policy at Griffith University, Australia. Her current research interests are Indigenous people and self-determination; theory and practice of Indigenous politics; ethics and research methodology in cross-cultural contexts; politics of accountability; Indigenous people and resource development; public sector management; and comparative politics.
Colleen Lewis is Head of Criminal Justice and Criminology and Co-director of the Parliamentary Studies Unit, School of Political and Social Inquiry, Monash University, Australia. She is author of Complaints Against Police: The Politics of Reform (1999); and co-editor and contributor to Civilian Oversight of Policing: Governance, Democracy and Human Rights (2000), Un-peeling Tradition: Contemporary Policing (1994) and Corporate Management in Australian Government (1989). She holds a PhD from Griffith University. Her research interests include public sector accountability, civilian oversight models, police-government relations and parliamentary reform.
Ken McPhail is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance at Glasgow University, Scotland. He has a doctorate from the University of Dundee and has published in international academic and professional journals primarily in the area of ethics and education. He has received a number of research grants including a substantial amount from the European Community for a project on the reform of European health care systems. He has spoken at numerous international conferences and seminars and also acts as a reviewer for a number of academic journals.
