Your Guide to Getting the Most Out of This Book
WHATS INSIDE

Hello, and welcome to Workout for the New PSAT! In these pages youll find 276 practice questions to help you prepare for the redesigned PSAT. These questions showcase all the features of the new PSAT, including its retooled subject areas: Reading, Writing & Language, and Math. Working through these problems in conjunction with our detailed, technique-filled explanations is a great way to familiarize yourself with the challenges of the redesigned PSAT.

What Is The Princeton Review?

The Princeton Review is the nations leading test-preparation company. In just a few years, we became the nations leader in SAT preparation, primarily because our techniques work. We offer courses and private tutoring for all of the major standardized tests, and we publish a series of books to help in your search for the right school. If you would like more information about how The Princeton Review can help you, go to PrincetonReview.com or call 800-2-Review.

HOW TO USE THIS BOOK

This book is broken apart into the respective sections that you will see in the redesigned PSAT: Reading, Writing & Language, and Math. All 276 practice questions represent the total content that you would see in two PSATs, so you could use the first Reading Test to learn about the types of passages, question types, and answer choices that would appear. Then, after youve assessed how well you did on those questions by checking the answer key and truly understanding the explanations, you could move on to the second test and time yourself to see how you would fare. The same strategy would work well for the Writing & Language and Math tests. Once these are completed, keep an eye out for our upcoming Cracking the New PSAT book that will be published in the near future!

Bubble Sheets

A bubble sheet for each
drill can be found on the
next page after the drill.
You may want to download
and print these
out of your book.
Complete answers and
explanations are located
in the chapter after
the drill.

When You Take a Drill

Here are some guidelines for taking these tests:

  • Time yourself strictly. Use a timer, watch, or stopwatch that will ring, and do not allow yourself to go over time for any section. If you try to do so at the real test, your scores will likely be canceled.

  • Always take a practice drill using an answer sheet with bubbles to fill in, just as you will for the real test. You need to be comfortable transferring answers to the separate sheet because you will be skipping around a bit.

  • Each bubble you choose should be filled in thoroughly, and no other marks should be made in the answer area.
