Introduction
In the most comprehensive survey of energy and the deregulated marketplace, 911 members of the Association of Energy Engineers responded to questions about the impact of deregulation on their businesses. This reference provides answers about how companies will procure electricity and gas and what criteria will be used, the impact of real time pricing on the procurement of energy equipment, and trends in energy services and performance contracting.
The survey also addresses questions about energy-efficient equipment: whether companies are delaying the purchase of energy-efficient equipment as a result of deregulation; the results of installing energy-efficient equipment; and ratings of the performance and overall cost-effectiveness of various energy-efficient equipment.
The survey presents the results according to respondent categories, which include utility and energy supplies, energy users, power marketers and ESCOs, equipment suppliers, and consultants.
As deregulation takes hold, these survey results will provide energy professionals with necessary information that will aid in establishing strategic directions for their companies and organizations.
