In Ancient Aliens on Mars II, New York Times bestselling author Mike Bara returns the reader to Mars to examine the enduring mysteries of the Red Planet. Building on the case made in Ancient Aliens on Mars and using data acquired from sophisticated new scientific instruments like the Mars Odyssey THEMIS infrared imager, Bara shows that the region of Cydonia overlays a vast underground city full of enormous structures and devices that may still be operating. He peels back the layers of mystery to show images of tunnel systems, temples and ruins, and exposes the sophisticated NASA conspiracy designed to hide them and discredit the researchers that discovered these exotic ruins. Bara also tackles the enigma of Mars hollowed out moon Phobos, and exposes evidence from over 30 years of observations that it is artificial. Long-held myths about Mars, including claims that it is protected by a sophisticated UFO defense system, are examined and illuminated.

Introduction

When I first began my previous book, Ancient Aliens on Mars, it was my intention to make it the seminal, complete go to document of all of the weird, anomalous and quite obviously artificial structures and monuments there. I was surprised to discover about half way through that I wouldnt even get close. Just telling the full story of the ruins at Cydonia and the Face on Mars would take up far more space than I could possibly put in one book, especially one with a tight word count and a strict release deadline. Hence this book was born.

That is not to say we wont continue and finish with the Face on Mars in this volume. We will. But I am also anxious to look beyond Cydonia to the many other mysteries of Mars, to questions of life, fossils and ruins in other regions. We will do all that on this journey. But we will also go beyond that and look at some other myths and legends of the Red planet as well. There has never been a comprehensive look at the mysterious case of the Russian probe Phobos 2, for instance. It simply disappeared, as so many Mars probes do, while taking images of both the surface of the planet (which as we established in book one is actually a moon) and what appeared to be something in orbit with the spacecraft. That something has led to decades of speculation about there being some kind of automated defense systemsomething like the old abandoned machines of the Krell race in the classic Sci-Fi movie Forbidden Planetprotecting Mars from unwanted interlopers.

We will also look at the many strange findings of NASAs more recent rovers, Spirit, Opportunity and Curiosity. We will turn a careful eye towards images of the rats, lizards and figurines on Mars that prompted SETIs Seth dont call me SET Shostak to write his silly and vacuous Huffington Post blog Martian ArchaeologyNot when many of these objects were first pointed out. We will dig much deeper than the superficial dismissals of the NASA apologists, and get to the heart of these subjects no matter where the data may lead us. Thats what real inquiry is all about. Simply asking questions, and not accepting simple, t-shirt slogan answers like extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.

But I will warn you now that as intriguing as many of these speculative scenarios are, most simply will not hold up under the weight of the evidence. I wont tip you off here, but there are some enigmas that were more fun to contemplate before we looked too close.

That is not to say we wont find more genuine mysteries in these pageswe will. Its just that some long held beliefs about Mars and what it holds will turn out to less than their discoverers originally thought. But there is also far more high strangeness about Mars that has never been properly acknowledged, the work of numerous independent and dedicated researchers who have scoured the web and looked at countless images until they found something that made them exclaim, just as Toby Owen did at JPL in 1976 when he first spotted the Face on Mars, Hey, look at this!

Trust me, there will be many more Hey look at this! moments in this book. But as I said, there will also be old mysteries and myths that will be put to rest once and for all. Our task on this journey, yours and mine, must be to discern the difference between the two so that we can move toward the only real value and intent of these booksthe truth.

Because the truth is something that is in short supply today. From the crass intellectual dishonesty of Martian Archaeology, not to the outright, bald-faced mendacity of If you like your plan, you can keep it, truth has become a rare commodity. Even in the hallowed halls of science, which is supposed to be ultimately a search for truth, many, many lies are told and retold and inculcated into the minds of mush-brained young students in our universities. This in turn gives rise to a complete lack of true intellectual curiosity, and a new and sadly inept generation of scientists who have been taught what to think, not how to think. Fueled at every turn by the ridicule of the debunking elite like James Oberg and Phil Plait and kept in line by the NASA controlled funding streams, we have reached a point where the reality of an Ancient Alien presence on Mars cannot be rationally denied, yet at every turn it is. The only way to combat this is to simply stand in your own truth, to know what you know and resist the pressure to conform.

We will never find that truth though in the false hope of the silly disclosure movement. Even if those that push this hopeless agenda fail to understand its inherent fallacy. Public disclosure of the type that they demand not only puts public servants above the peoplewhich they most certainly are not, it naively assumes that what is disclosed by these inveterate liars will be the actual truth.

It will not.

Even if some sort of official government disclosure takes place, which I do not believe will ever happen, it will at best be some sanitized version of the truth, and one designed to do nothing more than to secure those making the disclosure in their current positions of power.
