Preface/Introduction

Hello Friend, I have been anxiously waiting to share this in formation with you because it has given me a new lease on life and hopefully, it will do the same for you. I am one of those people who have tried every way, in and of myself, to lose weight. This 52 Day book is really about rebuilding the total YOU-body, mind, spirit.

Upon reading the book of Nehemiah, a book in the Old Testament of the Bible, I discovered some life principles that enabled me to rebuild my body in a relatively short time. Nehemiah 6:15 states, So the wall was finished on the twenty and fifth day of the Month Elul, in fifty and two days . That scripture struck me like a bolt of lightning, and I said to myself, If Nehemiah with the help of the Lord could rebuild the walls of a city in 52 days, certainly the Lord and I can rebuild my body in 52 days. So I began my quest to rebuild my body in 52 days. Results: I would like to share with you step-by-step what I did to achieve this goal and encourage you to pray about it and see if this process of rebuilding will be your avenue of success.

There are significant comparisons in rebuilding a wall and rebuilding your body. I consulted with Jonathan Burton, a General Contractor and master builder, as to the process of rebuilding a wall in layman's terms. I am attempting to write the rebuilding process as concisely as I can. First, the wall or place where the wall should be built or rebuilt must be inspected. After the inspection, a plan must be drawn for the measurements of the wall. The plans must be to the specifications of the wall or the building permit that gives the specifications for the job. Then precise materials need to be purchased including shovels, mortar, bricks, sand, line, rebar, plummets, concrete, grout, and a list of other tools necessary for the surety, stability and completion of the wall. Once you have your sharpened tools, materials, and plan together, rebuilding can begin.

The actual rebuilding process begins with the tearing away of the old. It involves tearing down any part of an existing wall that may cause the rebuilt wall to be weak or crooked . It involves digging a two-foot deep by twelve to nine inch wide ditch called the footing. It involves running a string line to a story pole to assure that the wall will be straight. The rebar must be set and inspected as to the centering of the wall. Concrete then is poured and before it is set, the first course of block is placed in the footling. Now, rebuilding or building begins. Similarly, when we begin the rebuilding process for our bodies, we want to begin with step one: cleansing or the tearing away of toxins and old waste in our colonic tract, in our blood stream and in our cells. After we have cleansed, we begin to rebuild our bodies from the inside out. We run string lines from the inside out. We run a string line to our story pole. Our string line is the Word of God and our story pole is our life. When we read God's Word, the rebar is set and inspected; we do the same on a daily basis. We inspect our lives, we journal so that we can make our minds, spirit, and body line up with God's Word. Prayer, our footling, must be poured, allowing our daily blocks of prayer, adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication to be the sure foundation of our building.

To ensure that the walls of our life are made with good quality material, we must not focus on simply rebuilding the physical man, but we must focus on the whole man: mind, spirit, and body. Hence, each day, on this 52 day journey will have three segments for you to be working on when rebuilding YOU-The temple of God (I Cor. 3:16), your Mind. Spirit, and your Body. I will give you strategies and suggestions to help you rebuild in these three areas of your life. I trust they will be helpful to you as they have been life changing for me.

To rebuild your mind we are going to use a four-point method:

1. Scripture

2. Ownership

3. Meditation

4. Journaling

To rebuild your spirit we are going to use a four-point method:

1. Scripture

2. Praise and Worship

3. Prayer

4. Journaling

To rebuild your body we are going to use a four-point method:

1. Cleansing

2. 5-A-Day /Diet

3. Workout

4. Journaling

* Always consult your doctor before beginning a new eating strategy (diet) or program.

Chapter 1

Introspection-Getting Permission

Scripture Reading: Nehemiah 1 and Nehemiah Chapter 2:1-10 *5,8

If Nehemiah with the help of the Lord was able to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem in 52 days, certainly the Lord can empower us to rebuild our mind, spirit, and body in 52 days. In 2004, I read Pastor Rick Warren's book 40 Days of Purpose, actually entitled, The Purpose Driven Life, and was inspired by the list of awesome events where God used 40 days to change or prepare someone for purpose. Rick writes, For example: Noah's life was transformed by 40 days of rain, Moses was transformed by 40 days on Mount Sinai, Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness, the disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after his resurrection. The significance of 40 days or 52 days is that it is a spiritually significant time period, dedicated to God allowing Him to transform your life. Introspection is the key to change. Acknowledging your weakness, and taking ownership of your mind, spirit, and body will enable you to confess your wrong doing, repent, and make plans in the next 52 days to spend maximum effort to produce maximum change.
