DEDICATION
In loving memory of my wonderful Mum
who had a radiant joy and enthusiasm for life
and always encouraged me to follow my own path.
I first met Jayne in 2015 when I approached her for a coaching lesson. At the time I was interested in understanding more about her teachings and in the possible inclusion of her methods in Adams upcoming golf app, Pin.
What immediately struck me was the realness, simplicity and authenticity of her approach, the opposite of that which is often provided in the commercial golf industry.
While those at the top of the game have improved dramatically due to the increased knowledge and understanding of what helps to develop elite athletic and sporting performance, plus of course all the technological advances in equipment and the amount of time the tour professionals spend practising and working at their game, the story is not the same for the everyday golfer who plays and loves golf.
Regardless or maybe because of the endless conveyor belt of new fads and gimmicks, from something you can strap to your wrist to a sexy new driver that can add 20 yards to the average tee shot, the performance of the amateur player is essentially just the same as it was when I started in golf 40 years ago. In spite of the unprecedented improvements in knowledge of teachers and coaches within the industry, and the tools to impart this knowledge, improvement has proven elusive.
With this in mind for surely improvement fosters enjoyment what Jayne practises, preaches and teaches about the quiet mind is clearly an important facet of golf and such an interesting subject that I believe it would behove all players to embrace it. Far better for the average player, who often has to juggle work and family commitments with a very limited amount of golf practice time, to devote some time to a skill that will allow his or her other skills to develop.
The quiet mind, the zone if you like, is one facet of golf that the top professionals and club amateurs can share.
A new approach is timely, to encourage more enjoyment and more participation in the game.
Ive enjoyed reading the book and will keep referring to it.

Jayne brings together both the mental and physical aspects of eastern methodologies that result not only in game improvement but also the ability to take it to the course under pressure and perform at a high level. Her work is unique in that all instructors focus either on swing theory or getting into the zone but Jayne very naturally combines both into a practical process that improves all aspects. These are centuries-old techniques adapted to the demands of todays high-performance athlete.
John Killian, 1.6 hdcp, Hong Kong
Jayne teaches the practical application of mindfulness in sport, specifically how mind and movement should complement each other to allow performance to emerge. Her work is a bridge between technical coaching and performance, allowing golfers to take swing concepts and turn them into effective motion.
Karl Morris, Founder, The Mind Factor
Jaynes work takes the mental side of golf and enhances the results so that you have the ability to relax, clear your mind and perform without a personal critic. As an amateur high-handicap player, there are many shots which I will not produce on any given round of golf. The ability to leave these shots behind is very important, and Jayne provides a method of accomplishing this.
Benson Dale Pilloff, 25 hdcp, North Carolina, USA
There are two spheres of golf instruction: one is physical and the other is mental; and yet both of these approaches supposedly involve thinking. Jayne Storeys unique approach teaches golfers how to not think. She is the spiritual teacher of golf, showing us how to be present on the course.
Jim Horn, 12.6 hdcp, British Columbia, Canada
Jaynes approach to combining the elements and disciplines of Tai Chi within golf is hugely beneficial and provides a definite missing link to improvement within the game.
Nicky Lawrenson, LPGA Professional
Jaynes teaching applies ancient concepts of meditation, breathing and movement to the benefit of your golf. Her instruction provides a link between the mind and body, allowing the mental and technical sides to be combined and applied naturally and athletically. While the mental game takes the golfer tantalisingly to the door of the zone, Jayne opens the door to lead you through and beyond.
John Mather, 4 hdcp, Northumberland, UK
To play golf without the brain being cluttered with technical swing thoughts is to play effortless golf, but there is a bigger picture here, which Jaynes coaching influences. Emotional control on a golf course is vital to playing at your very best, for professionals and amateurs alike, and Jayne teaches how to play without tension or fear.
Tom Brisbane, 7 hdcp, St Ives, UK
A breath of fresh air in golf writing at last!
Christopher Peters, 16 hdcp, Cumbria
Chi-Performance GOLF transcends golf technique; it will bring you closer to golfing nirvana than any six-pack of instructors ever could. Provided you have the golfing fundamentals from a minimum three years playing, and you make Jaynes method 80% of your training, you are guaranteed to reach golfing paradise.
Peter Fitzgerald, 6 hdcp, Kildare, Ireland
Jayne Storeys approach will soon be as fundamental to the game as the grip and set-up.
Michael Wharton-Palmer, 9-time Arkansas State title winner
If performance is potential minus interference, Jaynes coaching enables a golfer to realise their full potential by releasing the use of their fundamental movement skills in a very natural, non-technical way. Moreover, she helps the golfer to maximise the use of these natural skills by enabling them to ignore the negative interference from their inner voice, again through proven, non-technical methods.
Mike Snapes, 6 hdcp, Essex
Ancient wisdom like this must be remembered and integrated into our lives and games. As a golf professional with more than 30 years of coaching experience, I can confirm that the benefits to be gained from Jaynes approach are immediate, permanent and far-reaching.
