TO YOU,
MY LOVELY READER
I never imagined I would write about separation, following my own in 2016 at the age of 39, after nine years of marriage, three children and 14 years of being together. Its such a personal experience.
Then one day, during my daily run, I was listening to Oprahs Super Soul podcast with Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of The New York Times bestseller, Simple Abundance. She shared how she wrote the book for her, never once thinking about the effect it might have on others.
Right there and then, I knew I wanted to write this book. Not to dwell on what went wrong, blame, mourn or overshare, but to put into words what Ive been shown about myself during this time.
Because for me, separation while occasionally challenging and painful has been my greatest opportunity yet to really and truly get to know myself. I believe it can be one of the most positive experiences in life and the gateway to fulfilling our true potential. If we choose and allow it to be so.
Separation, in its many forms, is a heady mix of conflicting emotions, often hitting all at once. But I know that you can fly. That you will learn to accept these emotions and learn from them. And that, some days, your soul will soar higher than ever before.
This I have been shown, over and over again.
You have the ability to quickly change your patterns of thought, and eventually your life experience.
ABRAHAM HICKS
Shortly after I separated, I was introduced to the concept of the Law of Attraction: the theory that we draw everything (manifest them) into our lives with our thoughts, energy and vibration (the energy we emit). We attract the positive. Likewise, we attract the negative. The ultimate state of being is to be in alignment with ourselves an energetic match for whatever it is that we desire. We have to feel like the person we want to be without actually being it (yet).
The timing of my discovery seemed to me to be pure chance. In time, I was to learn that it was no coincidence. Nothing ever is.
